I stared into the box yet again, taking another look at the pictures and letters.
Since I got them from her doctor, this was the fourth time I was going through them.
I kept re-reading the letters, hating myself for not giving her the chance to deliver them to me, and for not going to visit her all those times she asked to see me.
We might not have had a real relationship, but I didn't have to be so cruel to her.
"How do I apologize to you, Belly?" I asked myself. "How do I tell you how sorry I am now that you're dead?"
I heard footsteps before Annalise opened the door. Her eyes passed between the box and me.
"Hi, babe." She walked in. She sounded exhausted. "Still feeling guilty?"
