Annalise was just about to reach him when he stopped and gradually became calm. His forehead was sweaty, his hands fisted.
Everyone stopped moving. The clock ticked. And then his eyes slowly opened.
I released the long, shaky breath I'd been holding.
His eyes were open. He made it.
Tears of relief stung my eyes.
"My Lord?" his wife whispered, her trembling voice barely holding together.
The man looked around at first, his face a map of confusion.
Alpha Kage went closer. "How do you feel?"
"Surprisingly good." The man looked down at his hand where I'd injected him. The mark was swollen. "What happened to me? Why am I suddenly better?"
"Oh! Bless the moon!" His wife collapsed onto his chest, bursting into more tears. "The Moon brought you back to me. They brought you back."
