IlluminationsJonah stared at Douglas like he was an absolute stranger. Douglas stared right back, almost pleadingly as he did so.
“Jonah,” he said anxiously, “it wasn't me. I just got here like five minutes ago. There was so much blood—I—I tried to help—”
“Douglas,” interrupted Jonah, whose breath was shallow, “what the hell happened?”
“We need to discuss this anyplace but here,” said Terrence. “We do not want to be found here! We need to go!”
He tried to wave away the curious crowd that had chased Alvin and the herald outside. If Jonah had been thinking straight, he would have realized that it wouldn't have been right to just abandon the scene, but his attempts to get an answer out of Douglas and Terrence's attempts to clear the crowd were noticed by Rheadne.
