The bonds fire

345 Words
Elias had stopped counting the hours. The chains had rubbed his wrists raw, silver eating into his skin until every heartbeat throbbed with fire. His wolf paced inside him, weakened but restless, demanding freedom he couldn’t give. The rogue leader had come and gone, always with the same taunts. “He’ll come for you. And when he does, he’ll die. Then you’ll see the truth of your vision.” At first, Elias tried to resist the bond, to wall off the pain so Kieran wouldn’t feel it. But the chains drained him, and in his weakest moments, the connection flared uncontrollably. He knew Kieran felt it. Every lash. Every wound. And yet… that same bond kept whispering to him, steady as a heartbeat. I’m coming. Tonight, the whispers became a roar. Elias stiffened, breath catching as a wave of heat tore through the bond. Kieran’s fury. His wolf, unleashed. The sound of battle echoed faintly through the fortress walls—snarls, screams, the clash of claws. Hope surged, wild and dangerous. The door to his chamber slammed open. A rogue guard sneered, dragging a dagger of pure silver across the floor. “He’s here,” the wolf said with a cruel grin. “And when he sees what I’ve done to you, he’ll break.” Elias’s wolf snarled inside him, weak but defiant. His body screamed with pain, but his voice was steady when he said, “You’ll never break him. Not Kieran.” The rogue raised the blade—only for the walls to shake as a thunderous howl ripped through the fortress. Not just sound—power. Dominance. The Alpha’s command that made even hardened rogues hesitate. The bond flared, white-hot. Kieran was close. So close Elias could feel his breath, his rage, his need. Tears burned Elias’s eyes as he whispered to the empty chamber, “You shouldn’t have come for me.” But his wolf, his heart, his very soul betrayed him—because all he truly felt was mine. And for the first time in years, Elias stopped fighting it.
