Chapter Two: Truths Revealed

Various reactions can be seen on the faces of the guests to what they heard and witnessed. Some were bewildered, and some seemed happy and not surprised, like the Newtons.

How did it end up this way? How did the supposedly beautiful love story of Eloise and Jinx turn out like this when it was amazingly depicted earlier? Why did Jinx call a different woman's name on stage?

"You heard it right, everyone. This lady right here is the only woman I love. I'm tired of hiding it, and I want everyone to witness our love." Jinx announced and looked at the woman in a loving gaze that he had just done not long ago with Eloise.

It's a good thing that there are no reporters; otherwise, what happened would have spread like wildfire, but that doesn't mean that the guests, especially some talk show hosts who were there, weren't secretly recording it.

Eloise found herself walking to the platform. "Jinx, what is this? Is this some kind of prank? Please stop it; it's not funny anymore."

Jinx's eyes turned to her, and it went cold as ice, sending a terrifying and painful shiver down Eloise's spine. He had never looked at her like that before. He always looked at her with love in his eyes.

"Eloise, don't embarrass yourself anymore. I'm tired of putting up with you. I'm tired of pretending that I love you still when you cheated on me. Let's stop pretending and tell everyone the truth."

The guests gasped, and if they were looking at Eloise with sympathy and compassion, it instantly changed to disgust and judgment.

"I don't want this anymore. I don't want to be tied to you any longer. Now I'm going to tell everyone about the woman I love and left because of you. Because of your manipulativeness. Because you blackmailed me into marrying you."

Eloise inhaled sharply, and her eyes immediately filled with tears. She opened her mouth to speak but didn't know what to say. She didn't know what was going on or why he was telling those lies. What happened? Why did it end up like this?

"Today, I'm announcing that I am divorcing Eloise, and I will marry this beautiful and kind girl in front of you."

Eloise couldn't breathe, and it felt like she was drowning. A knife repeatedly embedded itself in her heart and tore it apart.

Is this just a bad dream? Then she wants to wake up. She wanted everything to stop. Eloise's world seemed to stop as she looked around. She could almost hear her every breath. She saw the guests who seemed to be laughing at her while pointing at her, but in reality, they were not. The surroundings were filled with darkness, but she could clearly see the people around her. From the guests, her eyes found the Newton family, who looked happy and even proud of what Jinx had done while looking at her with a scornful look.

Eloise clutched her chest and tried to compose herself because she knew she was having a panic attack.

"Are you okay?" She vaguely heard a voice when Collin walked up behind her, but he didn't hear any response.

Collin wanted to intervene, clearly seeing the woman as the victim of some scheme, but he knew he'd be overstepping his boundaries.

Eloise's eyes focused in front of her again, and she witnessed how their lips met. In that scene, the glass surrounding her shattered, and her eyes were glazed over.

This is her party. Her house. Her story. And that is her husband. So why would she let anyone ruin it?

With that thought, Eloise found herself approaching them. Without saying a word, she pulled the woman by the hair, causing them to separate. She dragged her down the platform, ignoring her screams.

"I don't care about the story of the two of you, but as long as I'm your wife, I'm the owner of this house, so you should respect me, Jinx!"

Jinx's eyes darkened as he looked at her, and he pushed her away from the woman without saying a word.

"You have no right to hurt her!"

While the scene between the couple was taking place, the waiters began to send the guests away, while others voluntarily left because they didn't want to be involved in the scandal. But one thing is certain: what happened in that mansion will be everywhere tomorrow.

"I'm your wife, and she's your mistress!"

"I'm not his mistress, b***h. I've been Jinx's girlfriend for five years!" Lilian defended herself while fixing her hair.

Eloise gasped, and an inexplicable pain spread through her heart. She felt betrayed by what she heard.

"What about us? What was all that?!" Eloise emotionally asked, and their memories played in her mind like a cassette tape. From the moment they met, they became friends, became a couple, and got married.

Which one is true and which is fake? Did he even love her?

"You're an animal. An animal! Why did you play with me? Why did you have to marry me?!" Eloise exclaimed, hitting Jinx's chest, and he pushed her again.

Jinx looked around and saw that most of the guests had left and the rest were far away from them. He doesn't have to pretend or hide anymore.

"If not for your family's influence, then what else will you be good for, Eloise? You are frigid, and I hate it every single time I have to touch you. I don't even want to look at you because you freak me out."

Lilian snickered at Jinx's words and smirked at Eloise. "Isn't it obvious? The Newtons need your family's influence to rise even higher."

They continue to destroy and trample on her with their hurtful words.

"Everything was planned, Eloise. I knew you were my fianceè, and I conspired with your nanny to bring you here. I pretended to be in love with you, but I hated every moment of it. It's quite simple, really. I didn't even have to try hard. I can say that the nation's crush is nothing but a boring woman."

Eloise choked and continued to cry. What she thought would be a happy occasion turned out to be the worst moment of her life.

"Then why did you have to marry me?"

"Because I need a share that I can get from marrying you. Your father promised me a big offer, and I couldn't refuse it, but now the two-year contract is over. Thanks to you, I can grow my business."

"And soon, you will lose everything," Lilian said smugly to Eloise, and Jinx glared at her.

"What do you mean?"

Using his eyes, Jinx warned Eloise not to say anything anymore, and he answered instead. "The only thing you need to know is that we are getting a divorce. I want everything to go back to normal, and I want you out of my life."

"Why did you have to do all this? Why did it come to this point? Why did you have to lie and destroy me?! Why didn't you just divorce me?" Eloise asked with resentment.

If he is going to divorce her, why does he need to humiliate her in front of so many people?

"Because I didn't like seeing and hearing people say how amazing and kind you were. It's probably just a small compensation to me for letting my boyfriend and soon-to-be husband be with you, isn't it? Now your image is ruined, so it's worth it."

Everything is too much for Eloise. She did not expect what happened. She didn't expect the party to end with her heart and soul shattered. She didn't think that her fairytale-like life was just one long nightmare created by monsters.

It turns out that she is not the hero of this story and is merely a side character.

Eloise took a step back weakly, as there was nothing else she wanted to do but get away from the man she loved but who cheated and just used her. She wants to get away from everyone before she falls even more and goes crazy.

But when she turned back, Lola blocked her way with a smile on her face. "My dear sister-in-law, where are you going?"

She remembered their faces earlier and looked at each face of the Newton family again. Alice Newton, who was so sweet to her before, was now looking at him with disgust and contempt on her face. Maggie, who is kind to her, has a blank face, while her husband, Michael, looks indifferent. And Lola, who she often hangs out with and runs to sometimes when he and Jinx fight, looks like a typical bully.

"Do you all know this?" Eloise angrily asked the family that was blocking her only way away from them.

"Of course, everyone's such a great actor, right?" Lola mocked her and giggled.

Another round of tears fell on Eloise's face at the second betrayal she found out about that day. The family she considered her second family knew what Jinx had done. They all know about his girlfriend. They all stabbed her in the back.

"You did all this for money and ambition?" She asked in disbelief.

"Money makes the world go round, dear. The more money you have, the more you climb the top and stay on top." Alice was the one who responded like it was the natural thing in the world.

Eloise tried to leave again, but Lola blocked her way, and she was surprised when two guards suddenly grabbed her.

"Oh, dear, I'm sorry, but you're not going anywhere."

"Why? Why don't you want to let me go? You got what you wanted, didn't you? I'm leaving so you can celebrate your victory, you monsters!"

Eloise gasped when Lola slapped her. "Stop being so dramatic, and no, you're not allowed to leave just yet. I'm afraid the fairy-tale life you want isn't over yet." She continues to mock her.

"Until our divorce papers are signed, you will not leave," Jinx said from behind her, and Lilian was standing next to her with a pleased look on her face.

Suddenly, an overwhelming emotion grew inside Eloise, and she was filled with hatred and pain.

She glared at the man, who now looked like a monster in front of her. "Then you will wait in vain because I won't sign. You won't get what you want even if you force me."

Annoyance appeared on Jinx's face before she grinned and reached for her chin. "Force you? Who said I would? No. I'll make you suffer until you beg me to divorce you."
