The Exiled Omega

942 Words
The sun had barely risen when I left Moonfall Pack. No farewell. No friends. No family waiting to see me off. Just silence. A single travel bag hung over my shoulder as I walked toward the pack border. The familiar forest stretched around me. Every tree held a memory. Every path reminded me of a life I was leaving behind. My chest tightened. Despite everything, this place had been my home. But homes weren't supposed to cast you aside. Homes weren't supposed to abandon you. The closer I got to the border, the heavier my steps became. A part of me still hoped someone would stop me. That Damon would realize his mistake. That Elder Rowan would arrive with answers. That someone—anyone—would tell me to stay. No one came. The border marker appeared ahead. A massive stone carved with the symbol of the Moonfall Pack. Once I crossed it, I would officially become a rogue. An unmated, packless wolf. The lowest status a werewolf could have. I swallowed the lump in my throat. Then I stepped forward. Crossing the border. Just like that. Eighteen years were over. A strange pain shot through my chest. The last thread connecting me to the pack snapped. Tears threatened to form, but I forced them back. No more crying. I was done crying over people who didn't care. The forest beyond the border felt different. Wilder. Darker. More dangerous. Birds chirped overhead while distant animal sounds echoed between the trees. I kept moving. Hour after hour. The farther I traveled, the more exhausted I became. By midday, my legs were aching. My food supplies were limited. My water was running low. And I had no idea where I was going. Great. Just great. "Some survival plan." My wolf huffed inside my mind. It was the first reaction she'd given me since the ceremony. "You could help." Silence. I rolled my eyes. "Very helpful." Still nothing. At least she wasn't completely withdrawn anymore. That was progress. As afternoon approached, clouds gathered overhead. The sky darkened. Thunder rumbled in the distance. A storm was coming. Perfect. I quickened my pace. I needed shelter before the rain arrived. After another hour of searching, I spotted an abandoned cabin hidden among the trees. Relief flooded me. The structure looked old, but it was still standing. Good enough. I pushed the door open carefully. The inside was dusty and empty. No signs of recent visitors. No scents. No danger. At least none that I could detect. I dropped my bag and collapsed onto the floor. Exhaustion washed over me. This was my life now. No pack. No mate. No future. Just survival. The storm finally arrived. Rain hammered against the roof. Lightning flashed across the sky. For a while, I simply listened. The sound was strangely calming. Then my wolf suddenly growled. A low warning. I sat upright immediately. "What is it?" Another growl. Stronger this time. Danger. My entire body tensed. Slowly, I stood. The forest outside had gone eerily quiet. Too quiet. Even the animals seemed to have vanished. A cold chill crept down my spine. Something was wrong. Very wrong. Then I caught the scent. Sweat. Blood. Wolf. Not one wolf. Several. My eyes widened. Rogues. The door exploded inward. Wood splintered everywhere. Three massive wolves charged into the cabin. I barely had time to react. Instinct took over. I threw myself sideways. Claws sliced through the air where my throat had been moments earlier. The wolves shifted into human form. Three rough-looking men. Scarred. Dirty. Dangerous. One grinned. "Look what we found." Another laughed. "A lone omega." Fear surged through me. Three rogues. Alone. Miles from civilization. This was bad. Very bad. The largest rogue stepped forward. "You smell interesting." I backed away. "Stay back." They laughed. As if I had told a joke. "What are you going to do?" one mocked. My heart pounded. I had never been trained to fight. Never learned combat. Never needed to. The rogues spread out. Surrounding me. Trapping me. Panic clawed at my chest. There was nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. The largest rogue lunged. I dodged. Barely. His claws ripped through my sleeve. Pain exploded along my arm. Blood dripped onto the floor. The scent instantly filled the cabin. Every rogue froze. Their expressions changed. Confusion flashed across their faces. Then fear. Genuine fear. I blinked. What? The blood on the floor suddenly began to glow. Silver. The same silver light from before. The entire cabin shook. Dust rained from the ceiling. The rogues stumbled backward. "What is she?" one whispered. Another looked terrified. "No... it can't be." My pulse thundered. The power returned. Stronger than before. The silver pendant around my neck blazed with light. Energy surged through every vein in my body. The storm outside intensified. Lightning struck somewhere nearby. BOOM! The ground trembled. The rogues looked ready to flee. Then a fourth scent drifted into the cabin. Powerful. Ancient. Predatory. Every rogue went pale. One dropped to his knees. Another began trembling. "What now?" I whispered. The answer came instantly. A massive black wolf stepped through the shattered doorway. Larger than any wolf I had ever seen. Golden eyes burned like molten fire. Raw power radiated from him. The rogues looked horrified. One whispered a name. A name that made the others freeze. "The Lycan King..." The giant wolf's gaze shifted. And locked onto me. For one terrifying moment, the entire world seemed to stop. Then his eyes widened. As if he had seen a ghost. And in a voice that rumbled through the cabin— The Lycan King spoke. "Impossible."
