At the sight of the little black box with its white ribbon bow Nolan nearly dropped his cheesecake. As it was, he managed to choke down the mouthful he’d been savoring. The sight of the small gift brought a rush of excitement liberally sprinkled with a dash of nervousness. Could it be, was this the night that forever changed their relationship? Was there a ring inside, and if so, what would he say? He loved Makai, of that he did not doubt, but was he ready to take that step? Marriage hadn’t really crossed his mind.
