CHAPTER EIGHTEEN The plaza in Kingfisher Falls was never so joy-filled as each Christmas Eve. It was as if the entire town came together to celebrate with food, gifts, music, and laughter. This year there was no malice toward the Forest family, or nastiness by the book club ladies, and even though Marguerite was present, she wore an apron and helped pile plates with festive fare. Several long tables groaned under the weight of Christmas food and treats, donated by the community itself. People were served by volunteers, and every bench was taken. Roving through the plaza, the choir sang beloved Christmas carols. Rosie and Lewis had said earlier they would cherish this night, their first together as a married couple, but also the most recent of many years singing together in the choir. Ch
