Chapter Two

Sorry mum and dad, I love you and will do almost anything for you but one thing I can't do is to be forced to get married to the man I don't love and worse over a deal. I'm sorry. Please don't look for me. I could not believe what I just read, I frantically looked for in the bedroom "Eva!" I searched the bathroom, the closet again, my eyes caught an open window "she must have gone through there" I hurried towards the opened window but she was already gone. I sat on the bed thinking of what to do but then I recall the letter saying 'deal'. So the marriage was a business deal? Why? I know my uncle is strict but not to the point of practically selling your own daughter for the sake of a business deal. I'm angry at auntie and uncle for using her but I'm disappointed in her for not confiding in me. Yes the death of Nate made me a little distant but still she's the only trusted friend and family I had. I feel guilty for not paying much attention to her behaviours, maybe she gave me a hint or at least I should have noticed it without her telling me. But still, they need to know that Eva is not here and there won't be any wedding. I pick up my phone and call auntie to come to Eva's room. "Hello… hurry up and come to Eva's room" "Why?... What happened?" "Just hurry up and come fast" I could here here movement, which she's on her way so I cut the call and waited for her. The door bursts open and walks in looking at me worriedly " what's wrong? What the matter" she looks around and her eyes lands on the wedding gown that's on the floor. "Where is Eva?" I could not speak, "where is my daughter?" I couldn't come up with anything to say to her. I handed her paper. She looked at it and look back at me "what nonsense is this?" She calmly asked… to calm "what is this you're giving me?" At this point I was scared "Where did you keep my daughter!" I jumped from the sudden change of tone. She held my arm so tight I'm sure it will leave a mark at this point "I just came in and saw that sh..she.. she …left" I said the last word so quiet that I think she didn't here it… but she did. Uncle stepped forward and looked at me with so much anger. "I came and saw the note on the floor I didn't do anything to her I swear!" Looking at him with pleading eyes "uncle martin, I swear I did-" he didn't let me finish when I felt hard slap on my face. "That's definitely going to leave a mark" I thought to myself. "Uncle martin?" I held my cheek looking at him with teary eyes. "I took you in, fed, paid for your tuition and this is how you repay my kindness?" He looked at me with such disgust. "But I did not do anything!" I looked at the both of them "I barely stay in the house and even when I came here, I did not even see her!" I was shouting at this point "I went to the my makeup and when I saw her she told me to get something to eat and before I came back she left!" Why would they even think I'll ever do that to them. Auntie scoffed "it could be the fact that your are jealous of her" I turned to look at her in disbelief "why will I be jealous of her, she's my cousin and like a sister to me" I wept more, why would they think so low of me? "Oh I don't know… maybe the fact that she still has both of her parents and you want to take that away from her" the disgusting look she was giving while saying all these harsh words to me made my heart ache. Everyone is now quiet , they were probably thinking of how to sort their problem but my sobs were not helping, I was still crying and recalling all what they said to me. Was I that much of a burden to them? Did they ever show me real love. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Uncle martin went to who it is, they talked for a bit and he had to step out of the and talk to the person outside. I know because I could still here his voice behind the door. He came in after a few minutes looking scared and took auntie to the side and 'tried' whispering to her but I could here them loud and clear "they are still waiting for us" "of course they will martin, they came for a wedding remember?" Auntie whisper yelled "The groom is still waiting for his bride, he's waiting for her to walk down the isle" uncle said with a shaky voice. "He is here for a bride right?" Auntie asked and uncles nooded "then we'll give him a bride". That caught my attention quick. If Eva who is the bride is not here then who is going to be the bride? The room went completely quiet and awkward silence engulfed the room. Suddenly uncle martin leaves the room. Auntie slowly walks back to where I was seats beside me. She then takes a hold of my hand gently. What will she do what's up her sleeve now? Cause the aunt Becky I know is not this gentle and nice. What's going on.
