Gerald walked into the hotel suite and found the place abnormally quiet. The room looked like it hadn't been tended to that morning. The curtains were still open, and sunlight from outside illuminated the room. He didn't find Ali anywhere. The bedsheets were rumpled, but it didn't look like someone used them. His black eyes looked around cautiously, and his ears strained to pick up any sound from the bathroom, but he heard nothing. He walked into the walk-in closet, and there on the floor he found the woman who had come into his life like a typhoon and caused him an unnecessary headache. He sighed as he glared at her. He hadn't been so mad at someone like this for a while. Everyone had learned to avoid him, but this one was brazen enough to ignore his warning. She was like a pest.
