Chapter 4

SHE felt like her whole world falling apart at that very moment. Alyanna's heart stopped, and her tears flowed like a river. She could not understand her feelings. She hated this guy, and still hated this alpha. But because they are fated pairs, a bond between two werewolves mate, is connecting them, she can feel the pain of rejection. Alyanna barely moves, but when the whole crowd is cheering for her pain, she feels the need to walk away, run as fast as she can. She cannot endure another moment as she will see her alpha with another girl. She ran into the woods. Alyanna does not mind if she is barefooted, and the rocks ahead wounded her feet. She doesn't mind the pain anymore, there is nothing much more painful than the rejection cane from her mate. She hates him, but because of a damn connection, because of a single scent that she smells, because of that power they are attached to, she loves him, and he breaks it so easily like brushing off the dust. Yes, she dreams about fairy tales. Alyanna loves the thought of having someone who will protect her, cherish her, love her, and will be by her side for the rest of their life. But she thinks that their Goddess may hate them this much. She was born as a useless, battered, and unloved omega. All she wishes is to live happily and to be fitted on this damn territory. But all they got at the very end is hate and disgust from them. She stumbled upon a rock, and she can feel my body in pain. She cried so much that my eyes began to blurry. She saw the treehouse, and finally, Alyanna could rest, she guessed. Because she thinks that my soul is tearing apart, she can feel my wolf howling in pain because of rejection. She covered her body with a thick worn blanket. Her eyes feel stinging, but she just wants to let out her emotion rather than burst it if she will try to stop herself from crying. Vanessa came inside to give her a warm embrace. She felt that her friend was so worried about her. "Hey, I do not know what exactly you are dealing with right now, that pain perhaps, but I just want to tell you that, you are not alone, Aly, we are here. The three of us are a team. This whole world might go against us, but we have to hold each other's hands to walk this path. We will help you get rid of that pain, okay? Please, do not give up." Alyanna saw a little light amidst the hopelessness she is dealing with right now. He gulped, looking at the younger girl who was wiping her tears away. "Thank you. Where is George?" she asked, a little bit worried. "He mentioned that he will stay for a little bit, I do not know where he is now." The door bursts open and it shows George looking sweaty and trying to catch his breath. "Are you okay?" she asked a little bit worried for her friend. "You look pale," she added. "Because we are in trouble! Pack our things! We have to leave, we cannot stay here anymore. They are heading here, they know where we are hiding!" George stutters while packing his things in a panic. "Hey, hey! Calm down can you? What do you mean?" Alyanna asked for a clearer explanation. "Alpha Leonard gave an order to every pack of warriors! They are planning to kill us before the sunrise! We have time to talk about it! We need to get out!" Alyanna can not believe that after another heartbreak, they need to face another problem again like a dominoes effect. She is too tired and too lost to move her body, but she can't let herself be killed by those heartless monsters. They need to escape. "But winter has started. We will just starve to death if we manage to escape," Vanessa said in her hysterical voice. "Vanessa! Listen to me, okay? We should hold to a thin line of survival, then we wait to be beheaded like some sort of criminal!" George explained. Alyanna knows in her heart that her friend, George, is a very smart and futuristic type of person. He foresees this coming, so he plans on digging a tunnel under the treehouse that will lead them to another secret base not too far from the frozen lake. They heard the marching sound outside! They felt the coldness of fear, but they have to escape, they need to escape no matter what. "Hurry up!" George muttered in silence as he opened the secret passage. They came inside and locked it in time when the door outside burst open. The tunnel is just enough for them to fit. They put some sort of oil that will erase their scent and trace. They are confident because of it that the escape plan has a higher percentage to be executed perfectly. It is a life-and-death situation. Alyanna's breath became heavier, she was hitching in pain, her breath was not steady. She is tired, and she is emotionally damaged as well. But she can't stop for that selfish reason. She felt the need to continue. They arrived at a small cave. There is a wooden cart there. It is full of necessary materials and survival kits for them for the whole winter. They secretly gathered material such as kerosene for fire, foods from scraps and fruits they gathered before fall ended. They have thick blankets for winter and other things. It is barely enough for the three of them, but Alyanna thinks that it is better than being unprepared. It is all thanks to George's vision upon the worst situation like this. They can't waste any time, for now, they started to walk in the thick woods. They have a map written by Vanessa. There are spots that they should avoid no matter what, or they will catch and end up dead. It is cold, the wind is cold. The rain of snow slowly thickened while things were on the ground. It is dark, they are tired, every second that they breathe is torture for them. They can't stop, if they stop they will be traced by the pack warrior. When they felt like they were far from the pack territory, they decided to take a rest, they couldn't take another minute in the cold environment they are enduring. Luckily, Alyanna saw a dead old big tree fall from the ground. They can use it as a shelter for a moment. They come inside, and check if there is an animal or threat inside. When they feel secure, they manage to hide their belongings and set the things they need to survive. George creates a fire from them, Vanessa is the one who manages the blanket and pillow, and she prepares the food. They need to reserve their food until they can find a nearby village, a territory with the kind pack members, or any place where they can survive. That is the first and last thing on their mind. She sighed, looking at the harsh blew of wind outside. The winter storm looks terrifying. At least they are still werewolves who can store heads inside their tiny body. "Can we manage to stay alive?" Vanessa asked in her hopeless voice. Alyanna understands the younger girl's fear. There is no guarantee that they can withstand the winter, the scarcity of food, and the harsh reality of stumbling upon monsters and what lurks inside this white-covered forest. "Let's hope for the best, let's hope that we can find a place where we belong. Where they will treat us fair, treat us better, or just treat us like nothing. It is better than wanting us dead on the spot," she aforementioned. They decided to rest for that time. One will stay awake to look out for their safety, they will have that rotation until they can finally regain their strength. Alyanna volunteers to stay awake for the first phase, and let the other two have their rest. George and Vanessa sleep so soundly, while her heart is still in trouble. She is tired, deprived, rejected, and still suffering. She thinks that she can not even catch a wink even if she tries to. She is looking out of nowhere, praying that her wounded heart and soul will have a chance for healing. It is hard, she heard that being rejected is worse than dying, she agreed. Maybe if she did not put in her mind that there is a big chance of her being rejected, she might be dead right now. Her thoughts stopped from the very moment she heard a howling sound. It is dangerous, she felt the danger. She hurriedly put the fire down. Quietly wake the other two while putting her pointing finger to her lips, signing for silence. "They are here," she said, trembling. The other two look frightened, but they have to stop being discouraged. Alyanna thinks faster... She gathered all the snow and covered her body with it. They have to endure it, they have to do it, they need badly needed to withstand and survive the cold and the threat. "They are not here," she heard someone saying at the back of the thin wall of the dead body of the tree. "Let's go back, we are too far from the territory. The storm is harsh enough to kill them. What punishment awaits us is better than dying here in the cold." Alyanna focuses on the very tiny sound if they are all still here. And when they notice that the pack warriors who tried to chase them are out of the vicinity now, they hurriedly kick the snow out of them, they almost get killed because of two things... Those strong and weapon user warriors, and the snow they used for camouflage. Vanessa took the dried woods on the snow-covered cart. They make fire, and when they stop trembling, they know that they survive at this point, but fear about surviving next time. "Thanks, Luna, they are now out, hopefully, they will stop chasing us," Vanessa said, they can see a little hope. They hope that it is for the better. They are now more comfortable taking a rest. Gladly and they saw a frozen pond nearby, they saw frozen fish also, and they happened to catch a few rabbits too. They are confident in surviving for the next few days. "We can't still stay here. We need to get out of here and go far. Staying here is dangerous," George said while setting the fire again. They need to grill some fish. They all agree and spend three days at the dead body of a tree. When they saw that the winter storm is not that strong and hard, they decided to continue their traveling. They gathered woods, food, things they might use, walking day and night, stopping in a safe cave, or large tree holes. They did everything to succeed in their great escape plan. She can't stop thinking that being rejected is kind of a blessing in disguise. If she stayed there, and shared the trouble with her two friends, she would never forgive herself for dragging those two. At least it is not too late for them to get out of that territory. But no matter how hard they try, no matter how strong their will, the journey is too long and far, but they cannot see any places to stop, there is no village or territory they can ask for help. They are like walking without a direction. She feared that it might be true. That they will be dead because of the cold, inside and out. Alyanna heard her two friends coughing so bad. Their lips look so pale and dry, they can't move steadily, they are like frozen alive. They stopped on a tree, looking forward to their last time. They accepted their fate already. Maybe the cold is better than the harsh punishment of beheading without a crime, the only crime they got is being an omega, not a crime but more of a curse. Alyanna can't feel her breath, her pulse is so weak, she is barely hanging for her life. Until she heard voices of men running on them. "Help them! Hurry!" "Faster! Faster!" She was dragged by the darkness and left unconscious. She wishes that her other two friends will survive. She rather let herself die than George and Vanessa. "I, alpha of this pack, reject you." She heard the same words echoing inside of her head. Alyanna can see the same old crowd throwing stones at her, she feels the pain, but the numbness is greater than her wounds and exposed flesh. She saw her supposed mate kissing another girl, and that broke her heart. "Stop! Please stop! Stop doing this to me! What is wrong with you! You are supposedly loving me! I am your mate! I am your fated pair! But why did you choose on breaking me this harshly? Why do I have to suffer so much? Tell me! I need an explanation! I need an acceptable reason!" I beg him. But Leonard just gave me an icy cold glare. He hates me, he loves me to the core because I am an omega. "Because you are a lowly omega." She wishes it was just a nightmare. Alyanna wants to wake up from that dream. And when she hears the voice of an old lady, she can finally open her eyes. It is just a dream, a dreadful nightmare she deals with that night. "You are finally awake, young lady," she heard a voice coming from the side of a bed. 'There is a bed?' She can not help but notice it. "Where am I? Where are my friends?" she said with her voice turning into panic. She felt the pain coming from her throat, feels so dry like a sharp stinging pain coming from that part of her body. Her whole body feels heavy and in pain. "Calm down, Alyanna, you are fine, they are fine and safe. You are on our pack, the Blue Moon territory, no one will make you and your friends in danger," said the lady. She felt relaxed and safe for that moment. At least, somewhere far from that hell place! She can't help but cry because of the happiness and joy. "Thanks, Luna," she said with her voice trembling. "Here, drink some herbal tea. It will help your body to recover. Your friends are outside and helping the people in the packhouse. You are here in the packed clinic, barely breathing, thanks to Luna and you manage to stay alive before help finally arrives." "How many days am I unconscious?" she asked. "And what is your name by the way? Sorry for being rude. I can still feel my head so light," she apologizes. "Hush, dear, I do not mind at all. I am Rama, the pack doctor here in our territory. About your question, you are sleeping for a whole month." Her mouth and jaw fell from that information. She is sleeping for a whole month! She thought it was just a second! She looks bewildered about knowing how long she stayed unconscious and barely breathing alive. "How... Oh my gosh." "George and Vanessa recovered fast, maybe because you protected them from the cold before the pack warriors saw you three. They are unconscious for a week, but they manage to recover fast. And that is also the thing you have to do for now. You need to recover." Rama excused herself when a tall man, who looked like a pack warrior came inside the clinic. "I need to go to the packhouse. The alpha needs me there. I will ask Vanessa to send your light meal here. Just soup, no heavy food yet. We will talk about it later on, okay?" I nodded as a reply. She looks at the brighter side. They survive, that fact is enough for her to be glad. They are far from being in danger. She waited for her friends to come inside, and after a minute she saw George and Vanessa running towards her. They hugged her, and they were happy. "I am so glad you are awake now!" Vanessa said. Aly just noticed that they look fine now. They gained weight, and it looks like they are blooming in happiness. Maybe they found the right place. The territory they dream of before, a place they belong to. "Are they kind? Are they treating you two well?" Aly asked them worried about how they feel and experience the new territory. "They are the best. They knew the fact that we three are omega, and yet they treat us fine, better in fact. They think that omega is rare and very special in fact." It feels like they finally hit the jackpot. Although Alyanna still feels that heartache, especially that dream where she is being rejected over and over again. It is such a traumatizing idea. "Is something wrong? Do you feel pain? Should we call Rama?" Vanessa said a little bit stuttering and noticeably worried about her. "I am fine, I am getting better. I am happy to see that this kind of place exists. It feels like a dream that we are far away from that place. "And the fact that they enslaved us, gaslighted, and they brainwashed us like we are useless, and we are a bad omen, what the damn hell is wrong with them? I realize that there is nothing wrong with us being omega! There is something wrong with them!" George said bursting in anger. "Calm down, breathe in and out! No one will hurt us here, I am hoping so." But Alyanna is looking forward to meeting their new alpha. She has to think and observe the territory if they genuinely accept them. She needs certainty.
