Chapter 6

3058 Words
SHE feels safe with Kevin. Aside from she is aware that the territory is safe and has no prejudice against her kind, she knows that the man behind him is kind-hearted, and a very gentle type but the protector also. "Are you cold? We are still in the middle of winter, and I hate it. I like spring and fall since we can hunt that time," he said. Aly noticed that Kevin is a talkative type of guy, he is not a boring type. He looks cold outside because of his white hair, pale skin, and blue eyes. He looks like a man who does not care about people on his side, but he is such a warm ball of sunshine for her. That is her first and her current impression. "I am fine, thanks to your jacket," she thanked him. "No sweat, ask me anything if you need something..." he said with his high chin. He looks proud and very happy. "Thank you, sorry if I look awkward or something. I am still not used to being treated so nicely." She remembers her past like a flashback, she can't stop hugging herself. "No, it is fine. You will get used to it. People here are warm and kind. We do not tolerate bullying or violence. There is a law existing that protects those weak, and benefits, everyone equally. You see, everything is systematically here." She noticed that thing also. "Yeah, I hope so..." They finally reached the small cabin. She thanked him while bowing a little. "Thank you, I appreciate your help, I will go inside now, take care," she said while waving her hand. "No worries! Have a great night," he said while walking backward, his hand is in his pocket. She smiled happily. It is her first time making a friend, and it feels good for her. She got a chance for another chapter, and Aly plans on making up what she lost for years she became a slave for that pack. She can't be fully happy, she can not while remembering that she is a rejected mate, that she still has that memory of the past, but she wishes, and Aly is hoping that sooner she will forget the past. Aly walks inside and puts the basket on the clean smooth mahogany table. She decided to arrange her things, those goods, and items she need to put on the cabinet and compartments. After doing her thing, and everything is arranged, she finally decided to have a warm bath, and then go to her bed. She can't believe what she is living right now. It still feels surreal, and still think that Aly is living on her very dream. After a little daydreaming, she finally felt sleepy. The next morning, she felt empty still, and that is the effect of rejection, it is her curse for a very long time if the thread of fate will still exist on her soul. That is the red string attached to her and her mate. But because she is the weaker one, she will be the one who will be at a disadvantage. She woke up from her bed and started to do her new morning routine. She hops on the bathtub and got a nice warm shower. She wants to live her life in that place, but she needs to go to the library, she has a job now! After drying her hair, it will be troublesome to go outside with wet hair. She boiled water, and cook a light breakfast. After that, she wears her thick sweater, her boots, and scarf. The sky outside looks gray, and the snow lightly falls on the thick cold air. She walks on the stone road. She memorizes her direction, the direction to reach the library. It is an eight-minute walk, but because the snow is thick, it is so hard for her to walk at that speed. She reaches the library, and after she shrugged off all the snow clings on her boots and sweater, she went inside and saw Ashley. It looks like there are early birds inside reading while drinking hot drinks. "Good morning, Aly! Here, I have something for you. I received a jar of cocoa powder, use this to make hot chocolate or chocolate stuff." Ashely handed her a paper bag, and there are a couple of things she gave on her. "This is too much," she said a little embarrassed. "Don't mind it, just think that it is my welcome gift for you." "Thank you..." She volunteers on arranging those books left on the table. She is happily doing her job when she jumps scared. Kevin appeared out again from the second time around, and it gave her a mini heart attack. "Seriously, you should stop doing that," she lectured while her hand is on her chest. She catches her breath and silently kills Kevin inside of her head. Someone destroyed the beautiful start of her morning. "Oops, sorry that is my habit!" he slyly tried to make an excuse. Although Aly knows his behavior, since Ashley warns about this beta, she does not have any idea that their path will cross again like this. 'Isn't he supposed to be on the side of the alpha? He should be a busy beta,' she said inside of her head. She started to get a new type of habit. Having a conversion inside of her head is surely weird. "Aren't you the beta? You should have a busy day," she said while carrying those books she organized. She is walking in the science fiction section when Kevin steal those books in her arms. "Here, let me carry these for you. I am not that busy since I am off, you see my hand?" Kevin showed his arms, and it is bandaged. Aly has a conclusion that this guy is on his break. That is troublesome, to be honest. Though she is thankful and considered Kevin as her first friend aside from George and Vanessa. This guy and his hobby will be the death of her. "Thank you, but you should not carry heavy stuff if you are still recovering," she said to him. Aly knows that that wound is not simple. Werewolves have this super-healing ability, and they can only be stopped by putting a wolfbane on a weapon or using a weapon made of silver. Wolfbane is a cursed plant for them. Its smoke is like drugs, addictive but lethal of too much. It is also poisonous if too much doze is given to a werewolf. Silver is a cursed object for them. A metal that is poisonous for them in a way that stops the healing abilities and ultra regeneration. "It is okay, it is my third week of medication, sooner I will be on the front line again. Sadly those alphas bastards and those rogues also became more smarter and aggressive. They are still trying to take down this territory because of jealousy and greed. They hate what we have, and what they badly wanted. Power, just having a dominant alpha on our side is considered a massive threat for them. And if they will find out that there are omega on our pack, it will surely be the start of the war." She suddenly felt fear again. She felt guilty because there is a chance of war just because of their existence on this pack. She thought that the fight is over. They finally got what they want, but it is still the same story on a different page. "Don't worry, we have a stronger pack warrior, and besides, Alpha Xavier is way too stronger that he can wipe out enemies." She knows it, but power, too much of it bears huge consequences. Aly knows that if a dominant alpha used his or her power too much, it will turn them into a killing machine and an unstoppable monster. Truly, they will. "I hope this war will end. That alpha will realize that war will bring nothing but suffering from both sides. There is no winning on war." "I do not want to crush your dreams, but it is an inevitable thing." They have a little chit-chat. Kevin is as loud as always. If he is not the beta, that bookworm will kill him in an instant, so Ashley resorted to kicking the beta outside the library. "He is not usually here, that boy surely found you amusing. Maybe he likes you," Ashley said to Aly. Aly felt her face red and blushing in embarrassment. She never thinks that way. Surely, Kevin looks handsome, cool, and a very loving type of man. She had this instinct saying that Kevin is a type of keeper based on romance books she is reading. But she can't still move on. "I don't think so, and if he is on that kind of suggesting and signs, I must stop him. I am not in a kind of relationship yet, I am not finally moved on from my past," she said to Ashley. "Do you mind if I will ask about it?" Ashley asked her. "I don't mind at all, it is just, I was rejected by my mate," she said to her. Ashley's eyes widened in surprise. Her eyes reflect horror from her words. "I can't believe it. Something like that exists? How can he reject you! He is supposed to live with you, not reject you." Aly understands her anger, but she is done with that phase. She is finally in the process of accepting it and doing anything to finally endure and be used to that pain, a constant pain. "I know that it will come, a day will come that my mate will reject me. You know how omega works on other packs and territories. They hate us because we are either a threat or useless in their eyes. It is just me being unlucky to have an alpha as my mate, and he hates me enough to reject me and plan to kill us. It is thanks to my friend, George, prepared in advance and we finally escape from that pack," she explained. "I am sorry that you need to experience that. I swear that this place will protect and cherish you." "I know, thank you. I still bear that grudge, what we experience is unacceptable and unforgivable, but we do not think also that thinking about revenge, and constantly feeling that rage will help us finally walk from the past," she explained. "Of course, focus on where you and your friends will be happy." Aly did not regret letting out those words from her heart. She felt better when she shared her experience and thought to Ashley as if she let go of aery heavy memories. Besides, she ended up having a realization, that no matter what happened in the past, what mattered is doing her best to live the rest of her life to the fullest. She came back from her work, and just like what happened before, time flies too fast when she is enjoying her job. Before, in her old pack, she wish that time will be as fast as this way. But she needs to endure the hate and constantly getting beaten and enslaved by their old pack members. Scars from the past are not the easiest thing to heal. It is a deep wound that needs time and understanding. Aly is thankful that she was given a second chance to live again in this kind of life. After her work, she saw on the wall clock that time is over, and it is now the closing time. She saw again the beta Kevin waiting for her, she thought, outside the library. "What are you doing here?" she asked plainly. "Aw, do you hate me this much?" Kevin acted like he was hurt. "Stop being overdramatic." "I am not overdramatic. You just broke my heart into pieces," he said being dramatic again with a hurt expression. "Stop it," she said. "What are doing here again?" "Fine, alpha is asking to meet you. George and Vanessa are there now. Alphas asked the three of you to join him for a feast." Out of nowhere, she felt scared and bothered. She had a very bad experience with an alpha, and she still had it. If she only has the option of not meeting one in her life again, she will choose it. But she knew it is inevitable, besides, the alpha of the Blue Moon pack is a dominant alpha, she wishes and hopes that he is different. "Okay, can you lead the way?" "Sure, that is why I am here," Kevin said with a smug on her lips. They walk on that dark snowing night. It is chilling cold, but she felt like sweating just the thought of meeting the alpha. She and her weirdness is functioning again. They reached the huge packhouse. It is her first time getting food on the wooden floor of the huge place. It is way different than the packhouse of their old pack. This house is huge, but everything is organized and cool in the eye. There is a chimney in the living room, out from the hallway, then they go on a room where there is an office, there is a house, a chimney too, and her friends are seated on the brown-colored couch. Vanessa waved her hands to her. She sat in the middle of the two, and in that instant too, she saw the huge figure of a muscular man. She had that hunch that this man is the alpha. The ability to dominate is on his aura. Although he saw before how their Alpha Leonard dominated before, this guy is a lot stronger. She is sure about that. "I Alpha Xavier greeted you three for being part of this pack. The three of you will be the new hope of having new generations of Dominant Alpha. I know Vanessa since she is working inside of the packhouse, also George that I met a couple of times, but you are new. I heard you are recovering?" he asked her. She felt shivers running through her nerves and spine. She got that chill, but surprisingly, she felt no fear, just the dominance. "Y-Yes, thanks for asking, alpha," she stutters. She wishes to talk straight and not look like a fool, but this feeling is overwhelming for her. "Don't feel too pressured, I don't bite," he said like he tried to make a joke, but because he looks like a strong guy, that joke felt like a threat, for Aly though. "Yes, thank you alpha." "I am sure that you know your worth, and part of this system. We know that three of you came from an abusive pack, and it is a miracle that they let you stay alive. But we assure you to protect you, and will make you feel safe inside this territory, I swear and promise it as a part and leader of this pack." She felt safe, again. Xavier looks like a tough guy, he surely is, and has the power to fight a war and win it also at the same time. But he looks like he cares about his people. Maybe he can get used to being surrounded again by kind people. She is convinced about it. Kevin announced that the dining room is set for dinner. They are not exaggerating when they said that they treat omega nicely. She never thought about this in her wildest dream. They are used on eating scrap and near rotten food from the bin. They manage to survive on their own and stay alive with little resources. Aly still remembers those bitter memories, that make this current situation more unrealistic. "Please, help yourself. The food is prepared as thanks for the three of you," she heard the alpha saying to them. She makes herself stop salivating and sniffing the beautiful meat that shines like jewels. She takes a piece of steak and has a bite on it. She can not help herself but moan in delight as the juice and taste of it ran to his mouth. It tastes so lovely, she never thought of having this day in her life. "I hope you are enjoying your food," Kevin said is on her side. "Of course, the food tastes so good," she said to him. This is meat made from heaven. She wishes she can cane back again and again in this kind of situation. She discovered the alpha looking at her intently. She felt the same shivering, and it is chilling to her bone. It felt a little awkward. Xavier is not that muscular, not the type who has those nerves showing from muscles. He has good muscles, biceps, enough to be attractive for her. He has this attraction black hair and those brown piercing eyes that dig on her soul. She is thankful that the dinner is finally over. She is in a hurry, she might feel less hostile to their new alpha, but she has that trust issue. She can't trust again like before. Her trauma is more than what other people think, that is because of her memories and rejection. She wishes she was born here. If she can be given a chance, maybe she did not get that trauma. Maybe she is a lot way better now. Kevin as usual present himself to guide her home. Aly tried to refuse, but with his kind of nature, Aly know that he is unstoppable at the moment. Vanessa is looking at her weirdly. She gets it, Vanessa is shipping her to the beta of the pack. And the same thing she said to Ashley, it is impossible at this moment. "I survived," she said being the role of dramatic now. "Xavier looks scary, but he is more of a softy, mysterious inside," the beta commented. "I wish that he will treat us nicely. We don't like to go on the same thing." "That will never happen again." She thanked their goddess that she survived, the next day she will do again her best to avoid Xavier. He is not a bad guy, she discovered first hand, but that would not change her mind sooner.
