Three days had passed since the Battle for Mooncrest Academy.
The castle was slowly coming back to life.
Students returned to their classes, builders repaired the damaged towers with enchanted stone, and healers moved from room to room caring for the injured. Although the academy looked peaceful once again, everyone knew the peace would not last.
Magnus Bloodfang was still out there.
And he would return.
---
Aria stood alone on the balcony outside her dormitory, watching the sunrise paint the mountains gold.
She could still feel the Moon Wolf's power lingering inside her.
Someone approached quietly behind her.
"You've been thinking too much."
Aria turned to see Kael.
He smiled faintly, though his arm remained wrapped in a bandage from the battle.
"Shouldn't you be resting?" she asked.
"I could ask you the same question."
They both laughed softly.
For the first time since arriving at Mooncrest Academy, everything felt... normal.
Almost.
Kael leaned against the balcony.
"The Council has officially recognized you."
"I heard."
"How do you feel?"
Aria looked toward the forest.
"Honestly?"
"Terrified."
Kael nodded.
"So was I when I learned I'd become Alpha one day."
"You get used to carrying responsibility."
"I hope so."
---
A loud bell echoed across the academy.
Students hurried toward the Grand Hall.
Headmaster Orion stood before the gathered crowd.
"My dear students."
"Although our enemy has retreated, the danger has not passed."
He raised an ancient silver key.
"There is something hidden beneath this academy."
"Something that has remained sealed for centuries."
Professor Thorn stepped forward.
"The Hidden Chamber."
The students exchanged nervous whispers.
"It contains the knowledge of every Moon Alpha who came before."
Orion continued,
"Only the rightful heir may enter."
His eyes rested on Aria.
"Today..."
"...the chamber will be opened."
---
Deep beneath the academy, Aria, Kael, Luna, Professor Thorn, Elder Celeste, and Headmaster Orion descended a spiral staircase carved into solid stone.
The air grew colder with every step.
Ancient wolf carvings lined the walls.
Some appeared almost alive.
Finally, they reached a pair of enormous silver doors.
A glowing moon symbol rested at the center.
Orion handed the ancient key to Aria.
"Only your touch can awaken the seal."
Her hands trembled as she inserted the key.
A deep rumble echoed through the chamber.
Silver light spread across the doors.
Slowly...
They opened.
---
Beyond them lay a breathtaking hall unlike anything Aria had ever imagined.
The ceiling shimmered with stars despite being underground.
Crystal pillars stretched toward the sky.
Ancient swords, crowns, shields, and magical relics rested within glass displays.
At the far end stood a magnificent silver throne.
Above it hung a portrait of a beautiful woman.
Aria stopped breathing.
"My mother..."
Selene Blackwood smiled from the painting exactly as she remembered.
Elder Celeste bowed her head.
"The last Moon Queen."
Aria slowly approached.
As soon as she touched the frame...
The portrait began to glow.
The image smiled.
"My little moon..."
Aria's eyes filled with tears.
"Mom..."
The portrait wasn't merely enchanted.
It was a magical memory left behind.
"If you have found this chamber..."
"...then you have already begun walking the path I hoped you would never have to walk."
"I wanted you to live an ordinary life."
"But destiny had other plans."
The room remained silent as everyone listened.
"There is something you must know."
"Magnus Bloodfang did not act alone."
Professor Thorn frowned.
"What does she mean?"
The portrait continued.
"There is a traitor."
"Someone close to Mooncrest Academy has secretly served Magnus for many years."
Everyone exchanged shocked glances.
"A traitor?" Luna whispered.
The portrait nodded.
"Trust your heart."
"But trust no one blindly."
With those final words, the glowing image faded.
A heavy silence settled over the chamber.
Kael looked toward Headmaster Orion.
"You knew this?"
Orion slowly shook his head.
"No."
"If Selene left this warning..."
"...then the danger is greater than we imagined."
---
Suddenly...
One of the crystal pillars cracked.
Then another.
The room shook violently.
Professor Thorn drew his sword.
"Everyone, stay behind me!"
A dark mist poured from the cracks, swirling through the chamber like living smoke.
From within it came a familiar voice.
"You should have left the chamber sealed."
Magnus Bloodfang stepped out of the shadows.
He wasn't alone.
Standing beside him was a hooded figure wearing the uniform of Mooncrest Academy.
The figure lowered the hood.
Gasps echoed through the chamber.
Professor Thorn's face turned pale.
"It can't be..."
The person smiled coldly.
"I'm afraid it can."
The academy's trusted librarian, Professor Alden Graves, bowed respectfully to Magnus.
"For twenty years," he said, "I have waited for this moment."
Aria stared in disbelief.
"You betrayed everyone..."
Professor Graves laughed.
"I didn't betray the academy."
"I was never loyal to it."
Magnus smiled as he looked around the Hidden Chamber.
"Thanks to my faithful servant..."
"I finally know where the Moon Crown is hidden."
His crimson eyes settled on the silver throne.
"And today..."
"...it becomes mine."
