Lilith’s POV Knock. Knock. “Lilith?” Ryker’s voice and knocking woke me up from sleep, somewhere alone the nights I went to pee and I had dropped the earphone. I had a little headache because of it. I had taken drugs and I am fine now. “What does he want now?” I groaned as I stretched on the bed. I got up and grabbed my robe, I wore it over my skimpy night dress, and I opened the door. Ryker stood there furious, he had dark circles under his eyes. I rolled my eyes and stared at him in confusion as I put up the act that I didn’t know what was wrong with him. “What happened, babe?” I asked and he was just glaring at me. “Did you wake up on the wrong side of bed?” He growled through gritted teeth. “How about I say I couldn’t get any good sleep last night. Because my goody wifey had to lock herself in a room.” Oh. How I loved to hear that. I yawned, and shrugged. “You can’t blame me, you know. I was tired and I went to bed early.” Ryker closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “So, it was my fault?” My eyes brightened up as I nodded slowly. “You can say that. Why couldn’t you prepare something to eat?” “What!” he gritted his teeth and hit his fist on the wall, “Dammit. You know I don’t cook, you have been the one cooking all these years, Lilith.” I blinked at his outburst. I thought he was hungry. How did he have so much strength? I giggled in my mind. “Oh. Why is that so? Why have I been cooking all these years, Ryker?” “Because you are my f*****g wife. You are to do the house chores while I work.” His nostrils were flared. “That’s not fair. I work too. Babe.” I poked his chest with my index finger. “Maybe you should learn how to cook. Because–” I looked at the wall clock in my room. “I am late for work and I can’t cook this morning, either. I promise to make it up to you.” I gave his shocked face a quick kiss on the cheeks and I slammed the door shut. I pressed my eyes shut as I ran my hand over my hair. “How long will I keep doing this?” I wiped my lips as I tried to get rid of his skin, I just kissed. I pressed my back on the wall as he banged the door. “Lilith. Don’t do this. I’d die without your food. You know I hate to eat out.” “That is your call to learn how to cook now. Youtube is going to be your best friend.” He grunted and stormed off. I sighed and went into the bathroom. My stomach growled. I will have to eat at the restaurant. Seemed I was punishing myself alongside Ryker, but it’s a good thing. *** *** *** “Hey, Kate,” I greeted as I entered the restaurant. I was a little late and they were done with the cleaning. Kate lifted her head from behind the counter. Her face lit up when she saw me. “Lilith, good morning.” I walked up to her and sank into the seat in front of her, smiling. “You are looking good this morning.” I raised a brow. “Don’t flatter me. Kate.” “That was called a compliment.” she rolled her eyes. I giggled and went ahead to the staff’s room as I changed into my uniform and I was back out. “Table 12,” Kate said, handing me the tray carrying an order. I nodded and went ahead to drop it on the table. I thanked them and I turned to leave. New customers came inside, I just went ahead to take the order of the next table and I gave it to Kate, she would give it to the chef and in a few minutes the order would be ready. “Waitress.” That voice. I froze partially, slowly I turned to see Dahlia there. Sitting on the table as she gestured with her finger that I should come. My breath hitched. I stared at her. My grip in the steel tray tightening, as I glared at her. This b***h was f*cking my husband in my matrimonal bed. I should go there and slap immorality out of her little head. But, I can’t. If I do that Ryker would find out that I know their little secret and that might spoil Alpha Rue’s plan. I blinked and turned away. I was not going to serve her. “Hey, waitress? Are you ignoring customers?” I looked around and there was no other waiter around. Kate hadn’t returned from the kitchen yet. I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath as I walked up to her. I didn’t bother to hide the disgust in my face as I stared at her smiling at me. “What is your order?” I asked, locking eyes with her. “Pasta. Stirred fried pasta and a glass of wine, please.” I rolled my eyes as I jotted it down on the jotter in my hand. “Someone will get it for you.” “Not someone. You. I gave you the order and I don’t want anyone else to bring it for me,” she said. I smiled, biting my bottom lip as I nodded. “Cool.” I went to the kitchen in five minutes, and I was back out again with the order. I placed it on her table. As I placed the glass she shifted her hand on purpose and made it fall. I gasped and jumped back as it crashed on the ground. “What the f**k?!” she jolted off her seat. “Do you want to kill me? Is that how you treat customers here?” her tone was raised and he was drawing attention to us. “You did that, I saw it,” I said pointing my hand at her. “I– damn it. You are even lying. Can I see the manager?” she yelled. “What is going on?” Kate asked as she rushed out and when she saw Dahlia she bawled her fist and stormed to her. “You better get out of here.” “Stop, Kate.” I went in front of Kate and I faced Dahlia. “You seem to love breaking things? Glasses, trust? Name them, home wrecker. Do you break people’s marriages too?!” I spat in her face. Her lips twitched as she stepped back. Oh yeah. I am sure she never expected that from me. “Lilith, you can’t talk to our customers like that. You have to apologize to her. Now,” the manager said as he walked up to us. Dahlia smiled and crossed her arms over her chest. I want to kick that smug look off her face. “Sir, she started it–” Kate said, but I cut her off. I faced the Manager. “Sir, I am sorry– but I will not apologize to her.” The manager smirked. “I would not be tolerating such insolence. You will lose your job.” I smiled as I nodded my head. I took off my apron and I dumped it in front of him. “I resign.” he lifted his brows in shock. He never expected that. Kate shuffled her feet beside me and then I saw her apron fly straight to Dahlia’s face. “I quit too.” What? Kate was resigning because of me?
