Lilith’s POV
Should I do this? I thought as I looked into his eyes. Could I betray Ryker? The only man I have since I became a woman. The man I have married for seven years now.
How can I do that?
I lifted my eyes and it met Alpha Rue’s. He leaned in closer to me. “Belinda.”
I gulped. The way he called that name, like they were made for his slim pink lips. His eyes bored into my soul, I felt exposed under his scrutiny.
I couldn’t sit there anymore. I couldn’t breathe with him in the same room. I looked at the table and I saw dad’s name on the list. List of victims.
Beta Lucian Hunt. I blinked as my eyes watered. I rushed to my feet. Rue followed me, his powerful presence made me stagger back.
“Belinda,” he called and he placed his hand around my waist, holding me from falling.
I gasped and placed my hands on his hard chest as I looked at his chest. I couldn’t look up to his face. I drew a deep breath and stepped back slowly.
“Thank you.”
He let go and grabbed the glass of water on the table for me. I took a sip and gave it back to him. “I need some time.”
He sighed. “You have all the time in the world, Belinda–”
“Lilith.” I breathed. He locked eyes with me nodding.
“Lilith. Want to leave?” he licked his lips.
I nodded. “I should. Ryker would be looking for me now.”
I noticed his eyes darkened as I called Ryker’s name. Why? Does he hate Ryker?
He locked eyes with me slowly and then he dropped to his seat, looking away. He picked a bottle of whiskey from the table, uncocked it and poured it in the glass, then he sipped it.
“Beta Frakas will drop you off.”
I smiled. “Thanks for the kind gesture. But–”
He turned his gaze to me and I went mute. “You don’t know where you are, Belin– Lilith. It’s really far from your home. Maybe you should take my help?”
I grinded my teeth. Was he pissed I didn’t take his help? What exactly was his problem? But, he doesn’t look pissed though. Maybe he was controlling his anger?
I nodded slowly. “Fine. he could take me back to work. From work I would go home.”
Alpha Rue took a deep breath, downed all his drink. He picked his phone and was about to dial a number.
Who was he calling? Beta Frakas?
I looked around briefly and then back to him to see his groan and drop his phone. “I will take you instead.”
What! He just said Beta Frakas.
He dropped his brows as he stared at me. “What? Do you have a problem with that?”
Darnit. Seemed like he noticed the confused look on my face. I smiled as I shook my head. “No. It’s fine.” Actually it’s not. Because I was trying to escape from you, and now I would be stuck in the car with you.
“Great. Let’s go.” He smiled back, stepping out of the sitting room. I followed him slowly.
We reached a Rolls-Royles outside, he opened the front seat for me. I paused. There was no way I wanted to sit there, looking this red. What if he noticed that his presence affected me so much? Goddess. I need to get out of here soon.
I sidestepped and tried to open the back seat. He raised a brow and helped me. I sighed when he did. I wasn’t used to this much help. Ryker had taught me to do things on my own.
I stepped in and before I could lock the door, he helped me, again.
He got in the driver’s seat and drove off. It was a silent ride. I caught his gaze on me a couple of times, through the rear view mirror.
We stopped in front of my work place. I was about to get down when Alpha Rue called me. I turned to him and he had his card out. “Call me, whenever you need my help, it could be anything.”
I gritted my teeth as I took it. I don’t think I will be calling him though. I nodded, opening the door.
“Belinda. If you don’t want my help with anything. I understand. But, think about what I had told you. Think about your father. Think about our cause.”
Right. But, that’s after I leave your presence. Maybe by then I could think straight. I nodded my head and smiled at him.
“I will call you, hopefully soon.”
“Thanks.”
I got down and stopped there, till he drove off. It was almost dusk.
“Hey, Lilith.”
I jumped when I heard Kate’s voice behind me. I held my chest and breathed out a sigh of relief.
“Kate. Do you want to give me a heart attack?” I asked.
“Was that the Alpha? Did he drop you? Where were you both?”
I shook my head and rolled my eyes at her. “Kate. I have a headache. Work hours are over and I will see you tomorrow.”
I ruffled her hair. She pouted, but I giggled and walked towards the bus stop.

I reached home after 30 minutes. I reached the doorstep and I closed my eyes as memories of what I had seen today popped up. Ryker, in bed with her.
I cupped my mouth as I pressed my eyes shut. I couldn’t cry now, I couldn’t make him notice that something was wrong.
I took a deep breath and stepped inside. Memories still flood my brain.
“Where were you?”
I halted, looking up to see Ryker in front of me with his brows raised and his arms crossed. I gritted my teeth as I fought back the urge to scowl in disgust.
I hated to stare at this face of his. He was a cheat and a liar. He f*****g used dark magic to block his treacheous act.
Ryker stormed up to me. “I asked you a question!!” he thundered at me.
I couldn’t anymore. I let my bag slip off my shoulder and I raised my hand and slapped him across his cheeks.
