Ella wanted to go to Alex, but at that moment someone grabbed her by the hair and threw her into the bathroom. "What the hell?!" She shouted, clearly angry. "I should be the one asking you!" Ella's mother, Mrs. Odette, shouted to her. "Mom?! Why are you doing this to me!" Ella screamed, releasing the first tears. She couldn't hold it in any longer. "Me? You?! I arranged for you to marry a rich man! You have status! You'll be set with that for the rest of your life!" Ella's mother panted heavily. "And you're so ungrateful that you don't respect his family! You think you're someone else!" Ella wiped her tears. "No, Mom. You gained money and status, which is what you wanted back. I got eternal torture for it." Ella looked at her mother with a pained expression. "Her whole hell began a year ago when she had to run out of a burning house on a cold night. She remembers it like it was yesterday. Up until then, she had led a carefree life, had a good relationship with her parents, and was planning to go to college soon. She was going to start her own business like her father did. She always admired him for that. That night, she was the first to notice the smoke. She went out to the kitchen at night to drink water because she couldn't sleep. On the stairs, she smelled something burning. The further she went down, the stronger the smell became, until finally, her vision was obscured by dark clouds of smoke. She screamed in terror and immediately ran to her father's office, who had a habit of working hard at night. "Daddy! It's on fire, help!" She screamed, panting, in the doorway of the room. Her father ran to try to put out the fire, and Ella had to run to her mother. On the way, she took her younger sisters from the room. After 10 minutes, Ella, her mother, and siblings were standing in front of the house, watching the fire slowly consume the entire house. A moment later her father ran out, barely alive. He tried to save his office until the end, to get everything he could. Fortunately, he only spent a week in the hospital. But when he returned, he didn't speak to anyone. We were living with my uncle at the time. All of Ella's dad's business partners, clients, and others were calling him every day. The company was on the verge of collapse. Mr. Vincent sat and spent hours trying to figure out how to save the company. Then his wife came up with a wonderful idea. "Vincent, my love." In response, she heard only silence. "I know what to do to save the company," She said, hugging him. "How?" Ella's father spoke to her for the first time in five weeks. "We will arrange a marriage for our daughter to a man from a wealthy family. You will have an unbreakable contract with his father. " She smiled when she saw the sparkle in his eyes. "Our little Ella? And marriage ?" Vincent closed his eyes and began to think hard. "Yeah, I found the perfect candidate.. Intelligent, handsome... his father's company, and soon his, owns a whopping 75% of Langleband!" He smiled. "They have a high position in the job market and a high status among people. They are not just anyone." The woman's husband put his arm around her waist. "Continue," "Their fortune is 17 times greater than ours last summer. This man's grandfather is one of the most important CEOs in the entire country." Odette smiled broadly. "But most importantly, they're looking for a wife for this boy. Would you believe it? His parents want to find him an intelligent and beautiful woman to be the mother of his children, because as I heard from someone... -" Mrs. Rose didn't have time to finish, her husband kissed her passionately. "This will save us! Our daughter will have a beautiful marriage, not to just anyone, and we will be on top again! And what prestige is it to appear at parties as part of the family of such important people!" "Exactly, honey, exactly." Ella's mother smiled. They'd finally be someone. Finally, the world would notice them. The company's profits would increase significantly if they secured a contract with one of the largest companies in the country. Everyone will want to work with them. And after a month, what a house they'll be able to buy! Even bigger than their previous one! And Odette will finally be able to have her own maids, cooks, cleaners... Mrs. Rose thought about it very much. She knew there was no turning back. Tomorrow she would arrange a meeting for Elle with this guy. Ella lay in bed and thought about it all. Her parents had really pulled this off. Business is booming, and there's a flood of customers. There's plenty of work. But how much money? At their last dinner, they bragged about buying a new house, another one. "Daughter, we've never been so rich! We're so happy!" Her mother squealed with joy. Her father just sat there smiling, occasionally mentioning how proud he was of his company and how he had been the center of attention recently at a business dinner. Once upon a time, Ella would surely have been happy for them... but now, after all the r***s, beatings, starvation, intimidation, fear... in the end she got pregnant by that vile man, her mother-in-law hit her in front of everyone and her mother threw herself on the floor begging for forgiveness for something Ella didn't even do... She only felt hatred. After everything her husband did to her, she is considered the bad one. David is completely unpunished. And it was all because of her parents' greed. By cutting corners. They preferred to live comfortably, knowing their daughter was currently being tortured by her husband. And then, as if nothing had happened, they show up at their party dressed in beautiful, expensive clothes, congratulating them on the conception of their child.
