"I thought she wanted to stay at the pack-house?" Sven questioned Griffin in a whisper.
"She did, but she was already getting weaker because of the process, we will bring her back before they wake up.
Sven was surprised, staring at Griffin. "What should I do?" he finally asked.
"Go check on Brandon and his mother, remember we are not supposed to be here," Griffin advised.
Sven disappeared down the hall. Once he arrived outside the room, he listened in for a few minutes. Finally, he opened the door and looked inside. He was surprised to find Brandon sound asleep, his head laying on the bed next to his sleeping mother. Brandon was holding Kitty's hand.
Sven covered them both with a blanket and returned to Griffin.
"How are they?" Griffin questioned.
"Both asleep." he responded.
"We're safe here, so sleep." He said and motioned to the empty bed in the room. "We will have another long day tomorrow."
"You need to sleep too, we need you to keep her safe," Sven said to him. "We can share the bed, just stay on your own side," he said laughing.
Soon they were all sound asleep.
Meanwhile, back at the Pack-House, Cody was angry. He had instructed the females to follow him to the Games Room.
"Tell me what that was," he said to no one in particular.
Not one of the women spoke or moved, staring at the floor.
Cody looked down the line in front of him, "I asked a question."
Silence followed, no one had ever seen the Beta so angry.
Finally one of the girls mustered up enough courage to ask. "What was?" she almost whispered out.
"You all were mesmerized by the Luna's mates, why were you staring at them like that?" he said anger clear in his tone.
"They are very handsome," one finally answered.
"She has our Alpha, she shouldn't need the others." another responded.
"You should all be ashamed, you showed nothing but disrespect for our LUNA," he said emphasizing her title. "We don't choose our mates," he reminded them. "But she could change yours," he warned.
All the eyes instantly went to the Beta and then back to the floor. They all understood his meaning. He took a final look at the women, "I will punish you if I see it again. Do I make myself clear?"
He looked down the line,
"I SAID DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR???"
"Yes, Beta." they echoed.
As soon as he was out of sight, they finally started speaking.
"Why does he care if we look? It's not like she was in the room."
"Because she is our Luna and it is rude."
"How many does she need?"
"I know right, I have none and she gets all of those hotties?"
"Enough! We received our orders. Just stop, the Beta wasn't playing. She did something, you felt the Luna's bond break. I don't want to be on the receiving end of her anger. Do you??"
With that they each left the room, thinking over her words.
Back in the cells, Jackson was having a great deal of trouble. He wasn't sure exactly what was going on but he could no longer sense Kitty at all. He hadn't felt such a void ever in his life, it confused him.
He thought back over the years, she had always been by his side. She never questioned him or his methods, why was she suddenly gone? He tried to sleep but his mind kept wandering back to yesterday's ceremony, then to his own.
The look on her face when she realized what was going to happen, how she tried to get away, the guards stopping her. He remembered the look on his father's face, how delighted he was when she decided to fight.
As the day wore on, his body was worn out, his chest had an unfamiliar pain, longing, regret? He was confused by his own emotions. The time that had passed hadn't been much, but to look at him, it appeared he had been at war.
