Chapter 10
Jen followed Meredith back to her hotel room. She took the key card from Meredith and unlocked the door when Meredith’s shaky hands couldn’t quite manage it. “We don’t have to do anything. I just want some time alone with you.”
“I believe I was the one who all but dragged you here. Do I look like I’m having second thoughts?” Meredith laughed as she pulled Jen to the bed, pushing her down onto the too-soft mattress.
“Okay, okay. But I still think we should have gone to my place. It’s a lot nicer.”
“We can pretend we’re teenagers again, sneaking off to a seedy motel.”
“The seedy part is not exactly my dream, but that’s the only part that isn’t.”
Jen’s face was dimly lit by the bedside lamp. The depth of feeling Meredith saw in Jen’s eyes brought tears to her own.
