The footsteps I had heard before gradually faded from my hearing. So I slowly moved to get out of my hiding place. I checked the surroundings before finally running out of the rooftop, but I had only taken a few steps when suddenly a large object hit my foot causing me to sink to the floor and release the axe. He threw the drum at me, damn it.
I was even more overwhelmed with pain as I bent my wounded hand to the floor.
"I told you Zayn you have no escape." I heard Raze say from behind me. I slowly moved to face him while remaining prostrate on the ground. There's still that crazy grin on his face, you jerk.
"Just accept your fate, you won't wake up." he said and slowly walked closer to me. I also slowly reached for the axe that was just on my side.
I will prove to all of you that you are wrong against me, I will not let you all defeat me. This is my dream, I build this dream. I was the one who started this so I will be the one to finish it too. And I will end it the way I want.
"Surrender yourself Zayn, let us finish the dream you started." he said proudly as he continued to approach me.
"That will never happen, jerk." I said softly then I had the courage to stand up while holding on tightly to the axe. I immediately rushed at him and then hit him in the chest, obviously he did not expect my action because he was not able to avoid it immediately.
I backed away from where I was standing when I saw that he wasn't even hurt even though the axe was already buried in his chest. He just remained bent over while looking at his chest. I also looked at his chest and I was shaken in confusion when I realized that there was no blood dripping from his wound.
My forehead furrowed, I could not understand. Of all the demons I have encountered, he is the only one who is different from them. I became even more curious about his true identity. Who are you really Raze?
I was even more surprised when I noticed that he was no longer moving but he remained standing. Even the movement of his eyes stopped. I was even more confused by what happened, but instead of finding out more about what happened to Raze I chose to save myself.
I hurried out of the rooftop and down the stairs. I could feel the weakness of my whole body but I remained strong. I need to get out of here, I need to get out.
I was on the 6th floor when I suddenly fell down with extreme dizziness. I could feel the trembling and numbness of my knees as if they could no longer move. I'm losing strength, I'm getting tired.
But I can't stop, there's no time. I let out a deep sigh before standing up and continued going down the stairs.
There are so many things that troubled in my brain, there is so many questions that run through my mind. I could no longer understand what was going on, it's getting more confusing. Like Raze, I thought I could only have lucid dreams when he was with me. But what happened earlier? Why doesn't it work again?
What is really true? Who is he really? What is his connection to my dream?
He told me about this dream, but he also betrayed me. I don't understand what his point is, it's so confusing. With so much thinking at this time, it seems like almost everything can't sink in into my brain, I'm even more confused. They are really right, everything is possible in a dream. The impossible, becomes possible.
I am so thankful that there's no demon I encountered until I got out of the hotel. I gasped to stop from running then looked up at the tall hotel building before starting to leave.
I don't know where I'm going at this time, now that Raze is gone, now that I know he's an opponent, I'll find it even harder to control the surroundings. This is senseless. What is the use of this lucid dreaming if I can only do that when I am with an opponent. And worst, sometimes it won't work. This is crazy.
I stopped running when I felt the slight pain of my hand's wound. Until now, it continues to bleed. I looked around in disgust. There was exactly a small pharmacy not far from where I was standing. I hurriedly ran closer to it.
When i got there i immediately pushed the door to open it but it was locked. I looked around and looked for a disposable door breaker. Not far from me I saw a large branch of a tree, I was about to approach to pick it up but suddenly someone grabbed my arm and pulled me inside the pharmacy.
It moved so fast that I didn't realize that he was able to enter me immediately inside at the same time as the light functions. My eyes widened when I saw the man in front of me now, the gun he was holding pointed at me. He was wearing a clean white polo, it was still tucked into the slacks he was wearing. He looked so clean in what he was wearing, so it was impossible for him to be an opponent. But still, I can't trust him right away.
I backed away when he suddenly pulled the trigger of the gun he was holding. "Who are you? Are you harmless?" he asked then looked at me from head to toe as if he was examining my whole being.
I was gripped tightly by the wound in my hand when I felt its pain again. I also noticed that he looked slightly at my wound as he slowly lowered the gun and then tucked it into the side of his pants.
"Come closer," he ordered then walked to the pharmacy counter and searched for medicine there. I just watched his every move, I didn't speak and didn't even move. I think he noticed my quietness so he himself approached me with the medicine stuffs in his hands. "You need to be treated." he added.
I stepped back when I saw him approach me so he also stopped and looked straight at me. "Chill, I'll just treat you, I won't eat you." he said sarcastically then continued to approach me.
I didn't complain anymore and let him take my hand. I watched him remove the cloth tied to my wound, his cleaning of my wound was very fine and careful as if he knew very well what he was doing.
"Are you a doctor?" I couldn’t help but ask him. I heard his faint laugh as it remained bent over and continued to clean my wound.
"What do you think?" he answered.
"That's why I'm asking because I don't know." I told him, rudely.
"Well not yet, I'm still on my 4th year on med school. Sooner or later, I'll be there too." he replied while continuing what he was doing. He frowned at the wound on my hand. "What happened to this? This looks so brutal, huh?"
"You don't need to know, that's not part of your treatment." I said.
"But it's part of the doctors' job to find out the cause of the patient's wound." I raised an eyebrow at him. Sounds competitive, I don't like it.
"Stop being professional here, I don't even know you." I said rudely to him, he just grinned as he put the bandage on my hand.
"Thank you." I told him then to turn around to leave but suddenly he stopped me.
"Wait, where are you going?" he asked calmly.
"Leaving." I answered him sparingly, he's too loud.
"Like right now?" He frowned at me. "Why? I mean you know, I've been hiding here for a while and look nothing bad happened to me. I think it's safer here." he added.
"How can I make sure that I'm safe here? That it's safer here with you?" I asked.
His forehead furrowed as if he was analyzing what I meant. Well, I know it's quiet harsh but I don't care. I shouldn't trust anyone right now. I can only trust myself right now.
"Don't you trust me?" he asked.
"I don't trust anyone anymore. Last time I trusted someone, I was betrayed" I said to him as I met his gaze. "How can I even trust you?"
I thought he would be angry or insulted by what I said but I was shocked when he laughed a little, crazy.
"Wow, thank you huh? Thank you so much." he said sarcastically, what's the problem with this guy ? "After I treat you, you will just say you don't trust me?"
"I didn't tell you to treat me, you did it in your own will." I told him meanly.
At this time, the expression on his face changed. He became serious, I can say that he was really offended by my attitude. Still, I don't care. I can't trust him just because he treated me. Raze also saved me, but in the end he still betrayed me. I should be careful in giving my trust to someone again. I can't be fooled anymore, never again.
"Fine," he said then sighed. "But please stay. I commanded you not as a stranger, but a doctor. Your wound is still fresh, I just finished treating it. If you move too much, you will become even weaker because you have lost a lot of blood .I can see that you are determined to leave and I feel that you have a reason, and I know that what you are fighting for is important. "he explained.
I felt guilty after he said that. He was right, I had to get stronger before I joining the war. Especially now that I don't have just one opponent, now that I don't know who is my ally and who is my opponent.
I looked down when I noticed he was sitting on the floor leaning his head against the wall. He played with his fingers as he looked up at the roof. I sighed before following him to sit on the floor.
"What was really happened?" I looked at him when he suddenly spoke, he was not looking at me and remained staring above.
"Why are you asking me?" I asked.
"Because I know you know something." he answered directly.
I frowned. "How are you so sure I know something?" I asked again.
"Because I can see it in your actions." This time he then addressed me. He was very serious while looking at me. "Even if you don't trust me yet, you won't be in a hurry to leave here just for nothing. So now, tell me everything."
"I don't want to talk about it, especially to strangers." I told him then heard him smile softly.
"I'm Keith." I turned to him when he suddenly introduced himself, he remained staring at me. He was staring at me very seriously. "Now can you tell me?"
Seconds,
Minutes,
We stared at each other for a while before I avoided looking at him. There's something on him that I can't resist. I keep on telling myself that I don't just trust someone easily, but my mind keep on doing the opposite.
Maybe because I can't be alone now, I need someone to be with.
I don't know how much I have done right in this world and the wisdom of the Lord is in me. Everytime I lose someone, someone comes to save and protect me.
And hopefully this man, unlike Raze he will never leave and betray me too eventually.
