"I know just the person who can help," Caroline’s voice was soft, almost too soft, as she turned to Aaron.
I glanced at her from my seat in the back, barely able to lift my head. My body was heavy with exhaustion, the fever wrapping around me like a suffocating blanket.
Aaron’s hands tightened on the steering wheel. His knuckles turned white against the leather. He didn’t even glance her way, though I could feel the weight of his focus pulling toward her.
