Sleep was hard to come by for Caitlyn. She tossed and turned most of the night. Liam laid next to her, but even his sure presence didn’t calm her enough to let her fall fully to sleep. Every creak in the building had her eyes flying open and her heart pounding.
Her alarm went off early, forcing her out of bed to get ready for work. Liam got up with her and made coffee while she showered. He offered to drive her to the diner, but Caitlyn refused. She needed to be able to leave her apartment without him. She had to live her life. Even if it wasn’t much of a life.
