16 DEVIL IN THE DARK
In the mountains of Wise County, ear piercing screams can be heard throughout the hollows and towns below. The screams can be tracked all the way to the Steadman place. A one room shack with a chicken coop out back and cages with traps tied to the wire doors. The torn and ragged bodies of two dogs lay in several pieces by a nineteen eighty-four Isuzu truck. Inside the truck is Horace Steadman himself, his hands frozen to the steering wheel, his eyes bulging out and glazed over with a thin veil of death. Blood had stained his work overalls. Blood that had flowed with ease from a large gash in his throat.
In the dark woods just to the left of the shack, were two glowing red eyes. A content purring came from those red eyes. There was the sound of shuffling feet on dead
