Chapter 21 Winston worked to clear the area Grandpa wanted done for growing food. Travis was nearby. Jim watched them from a short distance, but far enough that they could whisper. Winston worried Jim would hear but was willing to take the chance. “Travis, it’s been five days. They show no sign of leaving. What can we do?” “I don’t know. I’ve wracked my brain.” Jim moved closer, and they stopped talking. For lunch, the usual pattern occurred. The three captors ate first, making pigs of themselves, and then the family ate.
