Chapter 7

Sophia After three days of contemplating if I should follow Xavier to see his world or not, I decided to go with him. My mother was still giving me the silent treatment and with the response she gave when I asked her what the word mate meant said a lot even though she had not given me a reply but forbade me from going outside instead. Trailing behind Xavier, in the feel forest I had my doubts hit the only thing on my mind was to know if his world was any different from the one I have always known. I could say that Xavier is a nice tour guide, anytime we passed through a landmark or something he would give me the history behind it or tell me where the landmark was headed. After walking for what felt like hours my throat started to feel itchy and dry, and the sudden urge to drink water engulfed my tastebuds making me swallow my spit at every second. "Are we almost there?" I broke the silence, Xavier turned to me his eyes went through my face, and I could his worry all over his face. "Are you okay? His voice came out low, and he placed his hands over my shoulder trying to examine what the issue was. I guess my looks gave away what I was feeling on the inside. "Not really, I just feel a little bit thirsty" "I would have brought water cans along with us, I forgot…" I could feel the worry in his voice, I too did not think that the journey would be this long I could have carried water cans with me but it had skipped my mind. "The water in the forest is usually contaminated and it is usually not advisable to drink from it" Xavier spoke up again "Please just hold on for a bit, we are almost there" Xavier said to me again and even though I wondered how many more miles we had left I just nodded my head back at him hoping we get there before I felt the second wave of dehydration. "Hm hmm" I cleared my throat "I will just have to wait till we get to our destination" Cavier pressed the back of my palms with his. "We are almost there" I just nodded my head and then we started moving again Xavier suddenly stopped walking making me hot my head on his back "Ouch" I said, using my palm to rub my head "Are you okay?" Xavier asks concern laced in his voice "I am okay, the impact wasn't much" I gave him a small smile reassuring him that I was okay but he didn't look convinced "Are we there yet?" I turned my attention away from him so we could change the topic, it was then that I noticed the large stone entrance that we were standing in front of. "Welcome my lord" I turned around to where the voices came from to see two well-built werewolves with hairy skin standing in front of the stone entrance. I noticed how their looks had diverted to me after greeting Xavier and their faces morphed with a little bit of confusion, I guess they were wondering if I was a member of their pack. "Thank you" Xavier responds to them and then when he tries to take me past the stone entrance when of the guards speaks up "My lord, you know we can't let her go in without confirming her identity" Xavier looked pissed but he did well to hide it "So you are saying that I should go back with my guest" his gaze shifted from the guard who said it to the other "No, my lord, that is not what It" "So what do you mean?" I could notice that Xavier was still trying to maintain his cool but his voice kept on going higher with each sentence that left his mouth. "The lady is a stranger and we are supposed to run a background check before she is allowed to go into the pack and mingle with our people" the other guard who had not spoken since spoke up. "She is with me, the people you speak about are still my people so I wouldn't bring harm to them" This time around when Xavier tried to take me past the entrance the guards did not object, they just watched us pass by. "Welcome to the bloodline pack," Xavier said to me after we passed the big stone entrance. He stops, placing my hands in his and staring deeply into my eyes "I hold you feel the connection I was talking about" He rubbed the pack of my palms giving me the reassurance I needed, his gentle touch ignited a feeling that I could not explain. He let go of my palms and I removed my gaze from his face giving me a chance to have a proper look at the pack. The pack looked like a modern village with cabins scattered everywhere. "What do you think?" Xavier asks and I can tell that he is happy to have me in his pack "Different from my imagination but better," I said taking a deep breath in "The air here also feels different" "Why are they staring at me like that?" I said again after we passed by a group of werewolves who immoderately stopped what they were doing just to look at me. "They are probably wondering who you are," Xavier said and then held onto my hands tightening his hold "Don't worry they will get used to you once they know who you are, mate" he smiled at him "Okay," I said smiling back at him In no time we got to a large building way different from the cabins we passed by on the way and I could just tell that Xavier lived there. Before Xavier had the opportunity to take me inside a lady walked out from the building, she had a striking resemblance with Xavier and she looked like she was Xavier's older sister. "Is that your sister?" I whispered to Xavier "Son, who is this stranger that you have brought to our pack" The lady calling Xavier's son was the only answer I needed to know what relationship they shared. "Mum can you let us in the stranger needs water" "Okay, come in" She ushered us inside and I heard her call out to someone to get us water to drink. "Mum, this is Sophia and she is my mate" his mother stared wide-eyed at me and I wondered what was going through her mind. "Welcome my dear.." she rushed to where I stood and engulfed me in a hug.
