Chapter 41“Huxley!” Sara called out.
The sandals turned in different directions. Huxley had heard her but didn't know from where her voice had come.
Sara stuck her arm out of the window and grabbed his ankle. He screamed and jumped back. She couldn't help but chuckle. If the situation weren't so grave, she'd have howled at his reaction.
“I'm here, locked inside!”
Huxley stooped down and peered in. His dark glasses and splinted nose came close. He raised the glasses to see her in the darkened room. His swollen eyes were now deep purple and red, but his blue-topaz eyes beginning to show through again was a welcome sight that sent waves of relief over her.

“Don't ask. I've got a shocker to tell you.”
