Chapter 43Sara went to the Emergency Room at Straub Hospital on Ward Avenue. The nurse cleaned up and treated the goose egg. The past experiences of concussion she had from her car being run off the road on Kauai were a reminder that if she experienced dizziness, weakness or nausea, she should report to the ER at once. She was concerned about the same symptoms for Huxley.
The emergency room technician dug out the piece of splinter from deep under her nail. She was glad her finger was numbed but worried what it would feel like once the anesthetic wore off. She was released when the doctor felt she was in control of her faculties.
When the doctor finished with her, he glanced over at Huxley sitting nearby. “Looks like you two could use some rest.” He raised an eyebrow. Sara had to laugh.
