Jade dug her nails into Marcus's arm. "Marcus, they're obviously working together! How do we know Mr. Lewis wasn't threatened into playing along with this?"
She pointed at me, her voice rising higher with every word. "Everyone knows the Lindstrom family's daughter never appears in public. Anybody could pretend to be her!"
Marcus immediately latched onto the idea. He shook off the bodyguards restraining him and charged toward Edward.
"Mr. Lewis, you're still young. You've got a bright future ahead of you. Why throw your career away for some woman?" He jabbed a finger in my direction. "She's manipulative. Don't let her fool you."
Jade quickly piled on. "I heard the real Miss Lindstrom is attending a summit in Aurelia right now. What if this woman is just a stand-in they arranged?"
