Tobi’s POV “I’m so sorry,” I said as I darted into the room, collapsing onto the couch beside Lila. She sighed, standing up without a word. “If we leave now, we could still make dinner,” she said, already heading toward the door. “Don’t I get a warm welcome?” I called after her, half-joking, half-hopeful. I’d imagined her launching herself into my lap, declaring how much she missed me. “Warm welcomes are for mates who are on time,” she said with a smirk over her shoulder. “Besides, I think it’s good for you to have to work for it every now and then.” That little minx. She winked and darted out into the hall. I was on my feet in an instant. No way was she getting away that easily. I followed the sound of her laughter echoing down the corridor, the halls surprisingly empty this evening
