MOVING ON

Our past mistakes in life becomes who we are in the presence and it helps us to shape our future. 

Sometimes I think about Desmond wishing we could be together but when the escapade of Edwin flashes on my mind, that feeling dies down and the feelings becomes a norm. 

I sat at the second sitting room thinking on how to call my mom to explain more about me staying with my cousin when Anita walked in looking so pressed. 

“ what’s wrong? I said, 

Please, Joanne ' am looking for the restroom, do you know where it is, o can’t seem to get what miss Jenny explained to me. 

Oh, ok! Well I get confused myself too, but I will just take you there myself, we walked down to the rest room.

I decided to go to my room to make the call, I got to my room to dial her number when Desmond’s call came through, 

I never wanted to pick it up but the intelligent gesture on my phone picked it up for me when I tried to mute it. 

Hi-iii-ii, 

Hello? Joanne, you need to come home, your dad is facing crisis at the moment, he’s at the hospital now as we speak, you need to rush down here! 

What!!!, I can’t just rush down there, besides he has other children over there? 

Please! Joanne, your mum told him your where about, he got angry and his blood pressure went high, so please if you can come back home, it would help the situation at hand.

Hmmm, I was worried at first but then I thought about it in another angle, what would make my dad dislike his very own niece up to that extent of having an attack? 

I thought of speaking to my cousin but she was busy with her client, I think?, Something must have gone down with the both of them. Okay, that aside, how will I prepare myself now to travel back home at this moment, I have nothing on me let alone transport fare-

Hello! Desmond, please tell her am not at her place again, just tell her am at my friend’s place, will be back tomorrow.

Yes! It will, just say something aside my stay here, I will come by tomorrow.

Desmond ended the call right away, hmmm, is he trying to get close to my family? or what is he up to? I pondered.

I need to tell this to cousin, I need money to travel back as soon as possible, but has my stay here brought a relieve inside me or just side chill, I thought about it as I walked down to the sitting room to tell my cousin what I should have done long time ago.

Joanne!! You’re here, am almost through with Anita,” just a minute. She said as she focused her attention towards Anita, 'ok dear, I will like you to get some rest so tomorrow we would go to the office and make some statements then we move from there.

Ok Ma'am she said.

I kept wondering what she does to these girls that makes them want to always come back to appreciate her and publicize her too-

What’s the problem, you know we haven’t spoken since you came here? 

Am still around', I mean is only been a day?, We still have much time.

My cousin doesn’t strike me as those wayward ladies out there, she looks smart, beautiful and intelligent, need I say she is also industrious and hard-working. What could a man ask from her, I kept on wondering in lost of her-

I just got a call from Desmond, he says dad is in the hospital because of me and that his blood pressure has gone up,- 

I know! She exclaimed and caught me off. Please Joanne, you need to go back home. Infact, let me call my agent at the airport, he will get a ticket for you, so by tomorrow you would be able to get there on time.

Do I look like a little child you can just push at any time you feel is okay by you?

Please coz? I need to know why dad has always had this bitter issue with you when it comes to we being around you.
