Chapter 5: The Makeover

I was looking at the makeup artists and the hairdressers that were styling the hair and the makeup on the face of their customers was glam. I could never pull that off on my plain face. Heck, I was a plain Jane after all.

“You know, you should tell that you will be stopping by,” someone greeted Harriet before I was looking at a young man that was in his late 20s. He was almost the same age as Harriet. Harriet laughed before he was hugging the stranger. It seems that they are not strangers after all.

“Tony, how are you? I heard that your wife is pregnant for 3 months now. Congratulation,” Harriet said before the man named Tony was smirking at him.

“Oh, you know what they say. The second one was a good sign,” Tony said before Harriet chuckled.

“How’s your boy, Alessandro? Still breaking the hearts of the young girls the last time I heard,” Harriet said as Tony sighed. Then, he turned to look at me and acknowledged me after that.

I told you I blend in well in the background. No one will notice, which made my life kind of easier.

“I see that you have someone with you. How are you? My name is Antonio and you are?” He asked me as he was smiling at me. I blushed as I never had a metrosexual man greeted me like that.

I mean, he dressed pretty well and all.

“I see that you have been flirting again behind my back, caro,” someone said that made Tony turned before a woman with blonde hair and grey eyes. She was captivating before Tony was greeted her with a kiss.

“You know I would never do that when you’re around,” Tony said before he was putting his hand on his chest. Talking about being dramatic.

“So, you would be doing it if I was not around. My, my, you’re getting bold, Mr. Romano,” the woman said as she was arching her eyebrow playfully before Tony laughed. I smiled at their interactions before I turned to see that Harriet was looking at me.

I blushed.

“So, you are here. I am so sorry if my husband was being a bother. He was always like this,” the woman said before she clapped her hands.

“I am so sorry. Where are my manners? I am Christina, Tony’s wife. Nice to meet you. I don’t know that Harriet has a woman in his life. I thought it was only his mother,” Christina said savagely before Harriet was clearing his throat.

“Why don’t we go into the room now? I think we have enough talk for now. We need to get going if we don’t want to be late,” Harriet said before we were inside the private room that Harriet booked for our purpose.

“I will get some tea going,” Christina said before I was sitting on the chair and Tony was preparing the tools for my hair. Harriet was taking his seat at the chair before he was looking at his phone as I was being styled by Tony.

Christina came back with a tray of tea and I was looking at the ceiling when Tony was washing my hair after he was putting something into my hair. I don’t know what he did so I was waiting for the result.

“Where are you going to bring her tonight? Is that the dress from the boutique? I don’t think that you would be buying those! It clashed with her skin tone. She looked pale,” Christina was saying to Harriet as I was listening to them. Harriet chuckled.

“I have my reasons,” he said before I can sense that Christina was arching her eyebrows.

“Is that so? And what are the reasons that you have?” She asked before Harriet scoffed.

“And why should I tell you?” Harriet said before Christina was chuckling and I was getting up from the washing station before Tony was drying my hair. I was staring at myself before Tony turned my chair and I was away from my reflection.

I cannot see my transformation now. I wondered what Tony changed to my hair.

I was looking at Harriet who was staring at me right now when Tony was drying my hair with a blow dryer. I was smelling the shampoo that he used as I was blinking my eyes before I was making eye contact with Harriet.

“Boy, it was hot in here,” Christina suddenly commented before Harriet was looking at her and frowned. Christina smirked at him before she was out of the room again and I was left with Tony and Harriet now.

“So, what do you think?” Tony asked Harriet before my boss was staring at my hair. I don’t know what was going on but I sure that Harriet was gulping after seeing it.

“It was…nice,” he replied before Tony smirked.

“Is that so?” He asked before Harriet was glaring at him.

“Yes,”

“Okay, if you say so,” Tony said before he was playing with my hair again and this time, he was styling it with the instruction from Harriet to not expose my neck. I was rolling my eyes at that. I mean, who was he to order Tony to style my hair in a certain way? Shouldn’t I be the one that can order what type of style I wanted to go for?

“Okay, all done,” Tony said, breaking the train of thoughts that I have when I was being ordered like I was an object for Harriet to show off. News flashed, I am not an object nor I belong to him.

But what if I was?

My heart was skipping a beat when Tony turned the chair around and I was staring at myself. I had to blink a few times before I was staring at a person that was not me. I was not a plain Jane anymore with my brown hair and brown eyes.

I was…different.

I was wearing a natural look that I don’t even know I can pull it off and still looked elegant doing it. It compliments my brown eyes with warm eyeshadows and my hair was done in an elegant chignon that was not showing much of my neck.

Just like Harriet wanted.

“Wow, I look different,” I said as I was staring at myself before I turned to Tony. He nodded at me before he was smiling.

“Si, signorina. It suits you well. I love it when my creation was coming to life,” Tony said, again with a dramatic gesture before I was laughing at him. I was looking at him before Harriet was coming to my side and put his hand on my lower back before he was gripping my waist.

Talking about being possessive but I kind of like it.

“Thank you for your time. Put it on my tab. Ciao, Amico,” he said as we were out of the room after Tony and Harriet hugged as I was saying goodbye to Christina and hugged her.
