The stories and legends of Greek Mythology have always been passed down orally and it gave the younger generation after Ancient Greece to learn from it. Even the Romans adapted the Greek myths into their version.
But we all know that Greek Mythology was something to be listened to because there was something that we can learn and teach others about knowledge. The myths were used to explain the creation of the universe that we know, the relationships that might go wrong, and do not be arrogant or you will face the consequences.
Sure, Ancient Greece civilization has ended but the myth lived on.
And who knows, you might encounter the Greek Gods themselves if they ever reincarnated as mortals in this modern era.
*~*~*~*~*
I have always been fascinated with the Greek myths since I was a little kid. I don’t know why but Hermes, The God of Thieves, was very appealing to me. I kind of wished that he would not be only the myth that people have always been saying.
And I should have known that be careful what you wish for.
My name is Jenny Franco and this is my encounter with Greek myth in the flash.
It was a sunny Sunday morning when I was leaving Greece after I learned that my best friend has been happily married to her captor. Now, if you asked me, that was not a good combination after all but it looked like they matched. So I was okay with the arrangement.
“Are you sure you have to go? Why don’t you stay for a while?’’ Ari said as I was smiling at her. She came to send me off at the airport and she was bringing that husband of hers to be with her as well. And Lucas Dow was looking at me with calculating eyes.
“You know I can’t. I have work to do,” AKA I have to steal so that my kleptomaniac was not getting the best of me.
I think he knows but if Lucas Dow did, he did not show it at all.
“Okay, be safe, and don’t forget to call when you arrive there,” she said as I was nodding at her before I was checking in and I was waving at her and her husband.
“Have a safe flight,” she shouted before I was smiling at Arianna and I was hopping into the flight as I was looking at the ticket that I was holding.
Sicily, Italy.
I think I have to go home sometime now and that time has come for me to be doing this.
I was looking outside the window of the plane as I saw the blue sea of Sicily Island. I don’t think that my time here was a good one since I grew up in the streets.
But that was in the past and I think I can move on and be the best that I can be when I put my mind to get out of poverty. Now, I am a curator at the National Museum of Sicily. I will have the best time of my life right now.
I was smiling when I was checking my passport out since I was an Italian citizen. The officer was checking my identity to make sure that it was not a fake and I was not.
“Welcome home, ma’am,” he said as I took the passport from him.
“Thank you,” I said as I was wheeling the luggage that I brought with me. It was filled with my side job and I was doing it because I cannot control my kleptomaniac.
Yeah, right.
I was refusing to meet the therapist that can help me to embrace it and control it. But of course, growing up poor, I was not having my money wasted on something that I have another outcome from it.
Look, you probably wondering why I was doing this but I was doing it for the good of the people. I was not stealing something that was not good or belonged to the rightful owner. I was just stealing something that was stolen to be sold on the black market and I returned it.
It was like Carmen Sandiego style if you know what I mean.
I was smiling when I saw the familiar city of Sicily. The island was a popular tourist destination where the citizen of the world would love to be here. And I was lucky enough to have my roots date back to here.
Even though it was not a good bloodline but I was happy.
I was smiling before I was putting on my sunglasses and I went to the vacant taxi that was waiting for the customer when suddenly someone was crashing into me. Talking about pushing people around, this man has no respect for a woman.
“Sorry, I’m in a hurry,” he said before he was getting inside the taxi. I was clicking my tongue before someone was offering a hand to help. When I turned to look at the face of the person that was helping me. I was sucking a breath.
His tousled blond hair.
His electric blue eyes.
His charming smile.
Is this for real?
“Are you alright? Need a hand?” He said as I was looking at him, staring at him before I was blinking a few times. He smiled before I was taking his offered hand and we were standing in front of each other before I was putting my hands on his chest.
“Easy there,” he said as I was taking in his expensive cologne.
Giorgio Armani.
“Are you hurt? That man has no respect at all for anyone,” he said in Italian before I was looking into his electric blue eyes again. If compared to myself right now, I was a plain Jane when he was like Apollo.
“Yes, I believe I am,” I said in the same tongue when I know he thought I was a foreigner when I can speak it. I was a citizen after all!
“When I see him again, I will make sure that he knows how to slow down and not knocking people down to the ground,” the stranger said before I was laughing at his notion. I turned to look at his face before he was smiling at me.
“Call me if you need anything then,” he said as he was shoving the business card into my hands before he was out of there. When I was sure that he was not around, I turned the business card around.
Harriet Hermes Caprioli.
Director of National Museum of Sicily.
Holy crap! I was being helped by my future boss. I cannot think anything except…it would be fun to play with him when I know that the Crown Jewel of Sicily was in the museum and I was close enough to make sure that it will be falling into my hands.
No more fake gemstone for me.
