Chapter 6: The Reception

1211 Words
We were driving on the highway before I was looking at an imposing castle that was on the top of the hill. I gulped. Mamma mia! What have I got myself into now? I was looking around before Harriet was chuckling at my reaction. “Do not worry. We don’t usually live in this castle. Only my oldest brother that was getting married and he was getting married to one of the curators that helped on the Ancient Greece exhibition a month ago,” Harriet said that made me even more nervous. I never knew that his sister in law will be that expert. I smiled, trying to get this feeling under control before I was looking around. I have to stay calm and just make sure that I will not stand out in the crowd. Just like I have always been doing my whole life. Well, that was before I got involved with Harriet Caprioli. I was trying to control my nervousness before I was looking around. I have to make sure that everything will be good and I have to make myself presentable. Even though I was not planning on being visible to everyone but just to the Caprioli clan. I was looking at the iron gate that was standing tall in front of us before it opened up and Harriet was rolling his Lamborghini with ease before he parked in front of the entrance. The door opened and the butler was coming to greet us when Harriet was opening my door and I took his offered hand to get out of the car. “Welcome home, Master Hermes. Master Zeus is waiting for you with his bride,” the butler said as I was looking at the castle. Damn, I can see it as the replacement for Mount Olympus if I was hearing those Greek nicknames for each of them. “Come on, let me show you around,’’ Harriet said as he put his hand on my lower back and I did not want him to pull away as we got inside the castle. It was magnificent and I cannot help but admire the stuff that they had in the castle. My kleptomaniac was getting worst now since I was in this antique castle and all the stuff that was inside was tempting me to steal it. “In here,” Harriet said before we were walking inside the ballroom hall. I don’t even know there was such a thing but looking at this castle, anything was impossible now. “Well, well, well. What do we have here? Hermes with a woman by his side. Now, I don’t think that I would see this day coming,” someone said before others were snickering behind us as Harriet was sighing. I think I know who they were. We turned around and I was being greeted by 4 other people that were looking at us with interest. I was trying not to be intimidated by them but there was one person that was staring intensely at me. And he has auburn hair. I shivered when I remembered he looked like Hephaestus. “Brothers. I see that you did not come with anyone else. Ryes, I thought you might be coming with a lady tonight,” Harriet said as he was snaking his hand on my waist and pulled me closer. I see what was going on right now. The brother that was called Ryes just now just shrugged at Harriet and he turned to look at the others. The one that was like Hephaestus was turning away as if he was not happy to be here. Maybe he wanted to get away as much as I was. Only he stuck with his brothers. “Oh come on, Hermes. Give us a break. You know we’re not like you. Charming, wealthy, and successful,” Ryes said before he was turning to look at me and I was being sucked into the same electric blue eyes that they all shared. One common trait as their hair was a different shade. “Besides, we like to get to know your lady better. I am Ryes, the third born and you are, Miss?” He asked me before Harriet was growling at him. “Back off. She’s not interested,” he said as he was pushing me behind him. I never see Harriet was being possessive. Well, never actually. Ryes was amused by this sudden change in his brother before the youngest of them all, I think, was smirking and chuckled. “Easy, Hermes. We’re not here to ‘steal’ your lady. If you get what I mean,” the youngest said before the one that was beside him was smacking his head. “Loxias, shut up,” “You shut up, Niles. I think Percy was getting pissed by the minute,” Loxias said before Niles was rolling his eyes. Percy was grunting before he moved away from us. I can see that he was a brooding type. I wonder what kind of woman will catch his attention. “Okay, enough. I would like you to meet my…girlfriend. Her name is Jenny. Jenny this is my brothers,” Harriet said as I was turning to look at them. “That’s Percy, the one that was just walking away,” Harriet said before I turned to look at the youngest. “This is Loxias,” Harriet said before Loxias greeted me. “Hello,” “This is Niles,” Harriet said before the man was taking my hand and kissed my knuckle. “A pleasure to meet you,” “And this is Ryes. He’s…” “Charming to meet you, my lady. I cannot wait what will you give us tonight,” Ryes said before he was smirking at me as he was kissing my knuckle as well. “Annoying,” Harriet said before Ryes chuckled at him. “For you, brother. But I’m sure for a woman like yourself, it would not be a waste to get to know each other better,” Ryes said as he was smiling seductively at me. I smiled back before Harriet was snatching my hand from his grip. “Oh, someone’s possessive,” Ryes said before Harriet was rolling his eyes. “Shut up, Ares. And where is Zeus anyway?” Harriet asked his brother before I was being pulled by Harriet when we’re out of Ryes’ sight before he was smiling at us. I think I know that look before I was looking at Harriet who was going toward the groom and the bride. The bride was a beautiful woman with brown hair, just like me but I was more of a chestnut. But when she turned, I see why she was the one that was married, and not me. Her eyes were green and I can see the love in her husband’s face as Harriet was standing in front of the groom and the bride before he cleared his throat. “Zeus, I would like you to meet my fiancée, Jenny Franco. Jenny, this is my brother, Zeus,” he said casually before I was looking at Harriet. From girlfriend just now and now I was being introduced to his oldest brother as Harriet’s fiancée. I mean, what was Harriet thinking?! Just throwing those words around before Zeus, his brother, was smiling brightly at us. “Finally, you’ve come to your senses. I cannot wait to meet your bride,” Zeus said as he was focusing on my face and I gulped. I think I might have messed up my life and plan to steal the Crown Jewel of Sicily now that I was involved with the Caprioli clan.
