As she expected, the clamp on her right n****e was a familiar cloverleaf design, a spring-loaded mechanism controlled by a pressure screw held two rubber-covered jaws together. The mechanism was attached to a chain. The jaws could be released by disabling the screw and releasing the pressure, but the design of the cloverleaf was such that the user was supposed to pull on the chain thereby increasing the pressure until the rubber-tipped jaws pulled—painfully—off the n****e. Normally the chain on the cloverleaf clamp connected to another clamp of the same design, but today Jason had removed the second cloverleaf and replaced it with crushing vice clamp.
