Chapter 12: The Breaking Point

263 Words
Lina couldn’t tell what was real anymore. Every memory felt like it had two versions now. One she remembered. And one she feared was true. She locked herself in her room. No school. No phone calls. No messages opened. But the silence didn’t help. It only made her think louder. She sat on the floor, back against her bed, staring at the wall. “Just think,” she whispered. “Just remember it properly.” But her mind didn’t obey. It showed her fragments instead. Broken pieces. Maya’s face. Rain. Screaming. And then The third person again. Always just out of focus. Never clear. Lina grabbed her phone suddenly. She opened the Unknown Number chat. Her hands were shaking, but her typing was steady. "Tell me everything." No reply. She waited. Seconds felt like hours. Then Typing… Typing… The message came. "You’re not ready for everything." Lina’s voice cracked. “Then I’ll decide that.” A pause. Then the reply: "You already did once." Lina froze. Her chest tightened. “No… I don’t remember choosing anything.” Another message appeared immediately. "That’s the problem." Lina stood up quickly. Her breathing turned uneven. “What do you want from me?!” she shouted. Silence. Then the final message arrived. Slow. Deliberate. "I don’t want anything from you." "I want you to remember what you made me see." Lina dropped the phone. Because suddenly, she realized something terrifying. The sender wasn’t just accusing her. It was trying to make her remember something she herself had refused to see. And whatever that was… It changed everything.
