Danica had thought she'd made her point crystal clear, and Lucas would pack up and head back to the city first thing the next morning. But when she got out of bed and stepped outside her room, there he was, covered head to toe in dust, waiting right outside her door, eyes big and hopeful like a stray dog hoping for a scrap. Catching her staring, Lucas scratched his head awkwardly. "Danica, I wanted to get up early and make you breakfast, but I really have no clue how any of the kitchen stuff works." Danica glanced over at the stove, and her temple immediately started throbbing. Pots, pans, and plates were scattered everywhere in a total mess, with oil and salt spilled all over the counter.
