By the time night i left the building about to head back to the dorm it was already dark and all I wanted to do was sleep, I didn't sleep all night last night and I am tired, I am tired of all this, I heard my name tossed around all day, when I went to the cafeteria everyone was talking about me.
When I went to the library even the girls restroom they kept saying weird things like “the human who stood up to Raven Blake” “the i***t who doesn’t know who she is messing with” some people laughed while others looked at me like I had grown a second head.
I spent the entire day ignoring them, and pretending like I didn’t see the glares or hear the snickers, and pretending that the wound on my knuckles didn't sting.
By the time my last class ended I couldn't wait to leave the only thing i wanted was my dorm bed, I wish I could just disappear and appear in my dorm, thankfully I am the only one in my room.
I placed my back on my bike before I put on my helmet, the parking lot was empty I guess everyone has already headed home or back to their dorms.
The path back to the dorm was eerily quiet lined with tall pines, i parked my bike where I parked it yesterday before I took my bag and removed the helmet my sneakers crunched on the floor as I walked to the direction of the dorm.
The place was quiet and so peaceful almost enough to make me forget that the entire campus probably hated me....Almost.
Halfway down the path I heard something, the same low growl I heard yesterday, I froze slowly turning looking around the forest, but there was nothing there, it's probably just the the wind.
I let out a small laugh shaking my head, their words are getting to me “get it together jesse everything is fine” I whispered to myself taking in a deep breath.
Before I could breathe out I heard it again it was closer this time a low dragging sound, like heavy paws on the ground, my entire body froze,as I slowly turned scanning the tree line. But the lights didn’t reach that far everything beyond a few meters was dark.
“Hello?” I called out instantly regretting it, my voice was cracking, I turned immediately quickening my steps, something isn't right, I really heard something, I can't just be hallucinating right?
I heard something again, this time it was loud, loud enough that it echoed in the entire forest, it was another growl, I stopped walking and slowly looked back again then I saw it a pair of eyes blinked open in the dark faintly glowing orange and it was fixed on me.
My heart slammed against my ribs, and every instinct in me screamed at me run but my legs felt like they had forgotten how to run, I swallowed hard stumbling back a bit.
The creature stepped forward, and for a heartbeat my brain refused to believe what I was seeing.... It was a wolf.... A f*****g wolf, my eyes widened as it stepped more into the light, it was massive and Its fur was brown, dark brown, Its breath came out in visible huff fogging the cold night air.
the school is surrounded by the forest but still a wolf? a wolf shouldn't be found in this type of places I stumbled back a step, my heart Hammering against my chest, one wrong move and this thing could tear me apart “Easy” I whispered as if reasoning with it made sense, but that's the only thing I can do, that's what they always do in the movies, I don't know alot about wolves but I know they are very fast, so even if I try to run it would catch up with me in no time “I am not... I am not gonna hurt you.. okay”
It growled low, the sound vibrating through my bones, my heart pounded so hard it hurt, I took another step back, then I took another, it looks like it's hungry so I better get going.
But before I could take another step it lunged.
I screamed diving sideways, hitting the ground hard as the wolf’s claws scraped the spot where I had been standing a split second ago my bag flew open and books scattered all over the floor.
It looked at me again and I began crawling backward, dirt getting under my nails with my breath coming in like gasps. The wolf slowly started circling me like a predator who wants to play with it's prey before killing it.
My hands were shaking as I followed him with my eyes suddenly from somewhere deeper in the woods I heard another howl, it was certainly a wolf howl, my heart stopped beating for a second “No, no, no…” I scrambled to my feet sprinting toward the dorm lights in the distance I could hear the sound of pounding paws closing in behind me, I started screaming calling for help but I doubt anyone would hear me.
I didn’t dare look back as I continued running, I can't die like this suddenly I felt a hot breath on the back of my neck before I could process what was happening a hand shot out of the darkness and grabbed me, yanking me off the path.
