CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 18, 2027 4:21pm (00:23:06:56) Mike was no great fan of the police, but Marcus’s decision to ditch the detective made him uncomfortable. It was inconsistent with Marcus’s character. Mike saw it in his eyes when he had burst into the lobby and pulled the receptionist aside for a hurried discussion. Mike saw it in Marcus’s motion as he grabbed Mike by the arm and almost dragged him from the lobby, urging him to move more quickly.
