CHAPTER SEVEN SUNDAY, AUGUST 15, 2027 3:52pm (03:23:35:36) Jackson Slattery didn’t like his brother, and it made him smile to watch their father shut his big mouth. But the beating reminded Jackson how screwed up his whole family was. His father was an ass. Talking about baseball. Treating Jackson like a little kid that needed molding. Thinking about it made Jackson side with his brother now. Below, Mike leaned over his knees, staring at the puke he just sprayed all over the patio. Mom wasn’t going to like that. Mike was an ass, too, but not like Dad. Watching the scene, Jackson almost felt sorry for his brother. Some strange part of him wanted to protest, to go down there and shove his father away. The thought brought a sinister smile to his face. Me telling the old man off. If only.
