A tense silence filled the living room. Trick sat on the edge of the couch, leaning forward with his elbows pressed into his knees. His hands hang between his legs, grasping his gun like a lifeline. The minutes ticked by agonizingly slow. From the corner of his eye, he could see Lorenzo standing by the window, looking out toward the ocean behind the house.
