The steady hum of the engine and the crunch of the tires rolling over gravel were the only sounds filling the vehicle’s interior as they covered the last few feet to their destination. Edward was at the wheel, steadily guiding them through the dark without the headlights on to give away their approach. Adrian had called shotgun and acted as an extra pair of vigilant eyes up front.
