“Should I ask how you got this information?” Detective Denis Moreno asked. His face filled the screen of the monitor. He looked like he was leaning too close to his webcam, not aware that he was giving them a magnified, awkward view of his facial features. For f**k’s sake, Trick could almost count his nose hairs.
“Not unless you want to give up plausible deniability,” Lorenzo said breezily.
Moreno scoffed. “I guess some well-meaning, concerned member of the community sent an anonymous tip.”
Lorenzo gave a nod of approval. “That always works. The simplest lies are always the easiest to maintain. There is no need to complicate things. Might end up shooting yourself in the ass.”
Trick was watching Detective Moreno like a hawk from a different screen from the one facing Lorenzo and Edward.
