Everything had happened so fast. They left the beach house via a speed boat. That had been a novel experience for Nadiya and a scary one at that. Luckily, it had still been too dark to actually see the vast water they raced across to get away from the beach house. It had also been scary and distracting enough to keep her dark thoughts at bay. Once they got to the dock several miles away, Nadiya had released the breath she hadn’t even realized she had been holding.
