Those words shocked me a bit, but what drew my attention even more was the slight change in Damien's face when Mary said that.
You wouldn't notice that usually, but over the years I started to pick up on these types of things.
The change was really a minor one, but for Damien that was a lot. In his long lifetime he mastered hiding his emotions so masterfully that half of the time I am not sure if his reaction was real or a fake one.
Sure, there are moments when he lets his emotions run free, but I am more than sure that he is always on the alert. Always hiding a side of him, part of his history and his real personality. But the worse part of it all, there is nothing more I would love more than to know who the real he is.
