She stood by the table and nibbled on her cookie when she saw a girl in a silver strapless dress make her way over to the table. She had blond hair, too, a similar color to Jane’s, but it was short, just above her shoulders. She had big brown eyes and small freckles across the tops of her cheeks.
“Hmm…” the girl thought out loud. “It all looks so good. How do I pick?”
Jane held up her cookie. “You can’t go wrong with Christmas decorated goodness.”
“Ooh, that does look good. I’m going with one of those.” The girl picked up the cookie and bit it. She swallowed and smiled. “Good decision. I’m Kate, by the way.”
“I’m Jane,” she said and took another bite of her cookie.
