Actually Lauryn wanted to take the package that her father had given her before. Because Lauryn did not know the contents of the package, she always took it with her wherever she went.
Because even Lauryn couldn't just trust the people in the Ruby Moon pack, especially before her life was being threatened and the only clue she had was the package her father had given her.
So Lauryn always carries this stuff wherever she goes, luckily the package isn't too big so she can keep it in her backpack or in her jacket.
