Episode 6

Mercedes p.o.v

I am currently sitting on my couch near the window in my bedroom reading a book with a cup of hot chocolate.

My fluffy blanket was around me giving me the warm feeling.

I nuzzled in my blanket sipping my hot chocolate.

I always liked to read books, they make me forgot my worries.

When my dad used to abuse me other than Christina, books always used to be my safe haven, still are.

It has been three days that Alessandro asked me for date but he still hasn't called or messaged me.

I wonder if he was serious or not.

I ignored my thoughts and started reading my book again, maybe he got busy with his work.

The doorbell rang snapping me out of imaginary world.

I checked the time, 7:15pm.

Wow, I was reading for five hours straight.

I rushed to open the door, surprised to see Santiago standing at my door.

"What are you doing here Santiago? Is everything alright? " I asked worriedly.

He smiled,

"Yes Mercedes. I just stopped by to deliver food. my mother asked me to give you and Christina as she have recovered completely now. "

My eyes lit up at the mention of Aunt Laurenta's food.

Her food is amazing.

It always remind me of my mom's homemade food.

I cheered happily.

"come in Santiago. I am excited to see what aunt Laurenta has sent. "

He chuckled and entered.

"Do you mind if I eat here? "

"Not at all. I could use some company now that Christina has gone to visit her little brother. "

He puts his hand on his chest acting like he was hurting.

"So I am just an option to you? " he asked dramatically.

I giggled and slapped his shoulder lightly.

"just come in, you dramatic fool. "

We settled down on the kitchen stools and I opened the food boxes.

" Oh Santiago! Aunt have sent so much. She have just recovered, she should take rest."

Santiago smiled gently.

"it's okay Mercedes, she is fine now. "

"Can you call her, please? I want to thank her. "

He smiled.

"Sure." and he dialed her number and put it on speaker.

"Hello my baby son. "

Santiago groaned.

"Mom, I am on speaker, don't call me that. "

I giggled,

"Hello, Aunt Laurenta. "

"Oh Mercedes, sweetheart did you get the food I sent? "

"You sent so much. thank you so much but take care of your health."

"Aw! Sweetie I am alright now." Enjoy your food, I will leave you to eat it now."

I smiled.

"Bye aunt Laurenta."

"Bye mom. I will come after having dinner with Mercedes."

"Ok bye Santiago. " She hung up.

"She won't stop calling me that. " Santiago signed.

I laughed and gave him his plate of food.

We ate while chatting randomly.

After dinner, we sat with our desserts on the sofa watching random tv shows.

The time passed quickly and Santiago got up.

"I should go now Mercedes. it's getting pretty very late. Mom must be waiting for me. "

"Yes" I smiled and followed him towards door.

He hugged me, wrapping his arms around my waist.

I put my head on his shoulder.

" Thank you for keeping me company. "

"My pleasure. " He said softly.

We separated and he waved at me.

"see you tomorrow. "

"Bye Santiago. " I giggled and shut the door before he could say something.

I messaged Christina, asking her where she was.

>>>Okay. Aunt Laurenta sent us her food. Santiago came to give today, he just left.

I have saved some for you.

I smiled and my phone started ringing showing Alessandro's name.

I picked up the call with my shaking hands.

"H-hello."

"Hii sweetheart. How was your day? "

"It was nice. I had a day off. Christina had gone to meet her brother."

"That's nice, so you were all alone? "

"Till evening, Santiago came to give his mom's home-cooked food so we had dinner together. He just left."

Alessandro p.o.v

I clenched my jaw hearing his name again.

He had f*****g dinner and spent the whole evening with my sweetheart.

I was beyond jealous.

I am currently sitting in my car near her house.

"Sweetheart, are you going to sleep now? "

I got out of the car and started walking towards her house.

"Not really, I will read a book for some time then go to bed. "

I reached at her door.

I have to have her in my arms like right now.

"Open the door for me sweetheart. " I said softly.

She gasped.

"where are you? "

"At your door, open up baby. "

The door opened, revealing my shy baby.

Mercedes p.o.v

He immediately wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me in hug.

I gripped his biceps to steady myself.

"I missed you. " He said softly.

He released me and looked at me head to toe .

I squirmed under his intense gaze.

"You were wearing this when that guy visited you. "

I looked at my outfit.

I looked at him confused,

"Ye...yes, why? "

"You look too sexy in those shorts sweetheart and he saw you like this. " He said tightening his hold on my waist.

I blushed,

"He is just a friend. "

He mumbled something under his breath that I couldn't hear.

I frowned and tried to wiggle from his arms.

"Where are you going sweetheart? "

"To get you a glass of water. "

He shook his head and held my hand and pulled me to sofa.

We sat down.

"I came to tell you, we will go to our date tomorrow. Sorry I couldn't call you, is tomorrow okay? "

I shyly nodded.

"okay, at what time? "

"I will come to pick you up at 7 pm. "

I nodded.

"should I wear any specific clothes? "

"Anything will look good on you sweetheart. You can go for semi casual. "

My cheeks tinted pink and nod my head looking at my hands on lap.

He put finger under my chin and lift my face to meet with his eyes.

"Don't hide your blush from me sweetheart. It's adorable. "

Oh goodness!

What is he doing to me?

"I should go now sweetheart, it's late. Sleep early and take rest. "

"Good night! " I followed him to the door.

He turn around and kissed my forehead softly.

I blushed and waved at him.

He left leaving me as a blushing mess.

I closed the door and stood against the door, keeping my hand on my thumping heart.

*Time Skip*

I entered the cafe happily and tackled in hug by Arnaldo, Christina little brother.

"Hey Mercedes, how are you? " He asked, hugging me.

"I am fine Arnald. how are you?" I smiled.

"I am fine and don't call me that. " he huffed.

I giggled, he hate that nickname.

"Let's eat, we bought chocolate donuts.

We sat down eating, talking and laughing.

After Arnaldo left, I and Christina headed to the lockers to change our clothes.

" I am going on a date with Alessandro tonight, he asked me yesterday." I told Christina shyly.

She jumped on me, hugging me happily.

"Yay!!! She clapped her hands.

" Please help me in choosing outfit. "

"Of course sweetie! " She assured me.

I smiled at her feeling greatful and we started working.

I wrote special treats of the week.

I happily greeted customers too.

I couldn't control the excitement for my evening date.

I already asked Santiago for early leave which he granted.

He looked gloomy.

I don't know why though.....

The day went by quickly and I leave cafe with Christina buzzing with excitement.

"Somebody is really excited hmm? " Christina said in teasing tone.

I giggled hitting her.

She laughed and we reach home.

I took a shower and checked the time.

It was 6 pm already.

I have one hour to get ready.

Christina came to my room.

"did you find any outfit?"

I shook my head.

She sighed and stood in front of my closet.

After scanning through the closet, she picked out outfit and showed me.

"wear this sweetie, it is cute and sexy at the same time. "

I blushed and put on the outfit.

I checked the time.

It was 6:45 pm.

We both sat down on the couch waiting.

I started to feel anxious and started fiddling my fingers with hem of my jacket.

"Christina what if I mess up? " I asked nervously.

"You will be fine Mercedes, just be yourself okay?"

I nodded, leaning my head on her shoulder.

We waited and checked my phone to see if he have sent any message, but I got nothing.

The clock was showing 7:30 pm.

I tried to call him but it went straight to voicemail.

I don't know what to do.

I feel sad and worried at the same time.

" What should I do Christina? "I asked.

" I don't know. "She replied sadly.

" Did something happened or did he already lost interest in me? "I said with my eyes watered.

She wrapped me in a hug and rubbed my back softly.

I snuggled in her shoulder, wrapping my arms around her.

we just sat hugging each other for I don't know how much time.

She pulled from the hug looking at me sadly.

" Do you want to eat something? I will make something for us. "

I nodded, not really feeling hungry.

"How does mac and cheese sound? " she asked.

"Sounds good. " I said.

"I will prepare it. Just freshen up and we will eat together."

I nodded as she went to ghe kitchen.

I checked my phone one last time but still, I got nothing.

I wiped my eyes and went to my room.

I came back to kitchen.

Christina was sitting on the kitchen stool with plates served on table.

We ate quietly and finished our food.

Christina collected the plates and carried them to sink.

She held my hand and pulled me to the room.

She hugged me.

"Get some sleep sweetie, everything will be fine."

I sniffled and nodded, putting my head on her shoulder.

She help me layed on the bed and pulled the blanket over my body.

"Get some rest okay? " She said.

I nodded, giving her a small smile.

She kissed my forehead and shut off the lights and left to her room.

I stared at the small lamp in my room.

Tears were gathering in my eyes.

I got stood up on my first date.

I closed my eyes, and fell asleep crying silently.
