Chapter 1: Claiming our Food Source

YASMIN'S POV

I could feel sweats sliding down on my face while I was under an AC, my palms were cold my body was shaking, it was starting again that feeling I always had before, hospital lights were flickering and then I saw her standing far away but I could hear loudly

“don't trust him”

as she reached my face with her cold fingers.

“Ma!”

My body jerked, I raised my head from the bed really fast, I didn't know when my hand moved to the pills, 4 colored pills went down my throat, I laid back on my bed with my eyes wide open.

10:30am

“phone ringing” the brightness of my phone poked my eyes and on the screen was Sarah

“what is it now”

“hey can you hear me”

“are you at a party this early”

“lazy ass I'm at your house, your dad is having a press conference here I can't get to your room because of all these people”

I sighed while my eyes were still squinched because of the phone's brightness still affecting my eyes

“I don't need to be there right??”

“Get down here!!”

Few minutes later I got there flashes were surrounding me as I looked all polished like I had woken up that way, questions bombarding my ears until one of the reporters asked

“what do you say about being your father's Co signer in his new project I'm sure he is very proud of you”

“Co signer? What are you talki-”

“Yes! Yasmin is very overwhelmed at the moment taking this huge opportunity her father gave her, please no more questions now”

Sarah grabbed my hands and took me to the kitchen where it was a bit quiet, I looked with a face wanting to know all that happened

“Don't look at me like that”

Like what?”

“Look I don't know all that's happening but from what I heard from my dad is that your dad got an opportunity on how to take some random people's land and I don't know why but I think he wants to send you so they know you're capable or something like that”

My eyes went wide, before I could say anything my attention got swayed when I saw my father on a podium as he was about to speak

“As we all know the city's sudden loss of food due to the past earthquake has made us loose lives and most importantly some of our farmland, I heard all your statements and I want you to know that I am all ears”

They all started clapping suddenly like he said something worth the praise

He continued

“that's enough really, hm, yes so I decided that since my people need me I must do the needful”

“I have decided to take a big step by talking to some of the elders on the greatest food basket in town which is Suntown Village”

“Yes they haven't decided whether or not to share their land with us but that is where my loving daughter comes in”

I stepped closer to the living room where they were having the conference thinking I didn't hear it right

“Yasmin Theor would be the one to bring this city's Food source to us all”

They all started cheering as he looked at my direction, smiling and nodding like we had talked about all this.

"You should talk to him, I mean for our sake"

1:03pm

He was sitting on his favorite chair reading a newspaper about himself with tobacco on the edge of his lips.

I just sat down next to him and stood back up wondering if I should shout or just talk

“Dad… What was that about?”

He didn't respond just slowly opened the next page on his newspaper

“Dad!!”

“What is it now?”

“I want to know why you made me your Co signer, why did you say I was bringing some sort of food stuff”

He gave a silent laugh and finally looked at me

“sit”

“You don't really have to do much you see”

“Do you think I give a f**k about whether these people eat or not”

“You surely don't” I muttered

“You have to go there in order to seize their land, I mean how can some poor people be the ones to tell me if I eat or not”

“their land is like a whole city we use half for our food and half for my interest” he said while puffing his cigarettes

“What do you mean seize??”

“I mean deceive, deceive them with sweet words let them know you understand them and then” be snapped his fingers “you take what's ours”

He laughed so chronically I started to think the cigarette has finally started affecting this man

He continued

“our only problem is Amor Groups the biggest supplier of this city but since they decided not to work with us, I'll have my way through things myself”

“So you're going to suntown at least till you get the job done”

“What?, me?”

“Are you f*****g deaf!”

“I'm not deaf!, what you're telling me to do is illegal”

He laughed again this time louder as he stood up and placed his hand on my hair and caressing it

“Politics is always like that dear, don't you worry about anything illegal, think of it as practical on leading people, do whatever daddy says okay cupcake?”

“Whatever” I ran to my room looking at all my expensive stuffs like I won't be coming here again

“f**k!” I groaned loudly

As i closed my eyes the picture of living in a village crossed my mind making my body shiver until I heard a knock on the my door

"Life isn't really this hard you know"

"I know its going to be hard for you to live in such places but its for our benefit Yasmin"

"Its for your benefit!"

"Then if you knew that why did you allow me to play father figure?"

"Pack your things and hurry will you"
