Remi's Birthday Celebration

1238 Words
Three days had passed since Remi's birthday. Her father told her they would be leaving for a trip tomorrow, which filled her with excitement. Remi wanted to see the world and all it had to offer, she was filled with curiosity and wished to learn as much as she could about the world and its creautures. Though her father never explained where they were going, she couldn't help but feel anxious that something important would be happening and it would change her life. That night Remi dressed for the dinner her father was having in honor of her 18th birthday. She wore a simple blue dress decorated with a daisy flower design that brought out the blue tint to her long raven colored hair. She put on the white gloves embrodiered with a cute lace design and blue bows that her father had given to her as a birthday gift to help conceal her mew power. Though her father was working with her to learn to control her powers, this would be a temporary solution. Before Remi left her room, she did one last look in the mirror to decide if she looked sufficient enough, then she walked towards the dinning room, but on her way her stomach let out a large rumble. She quickly tried to compose herself, not wanting to make a fool out of herself in front of her father and his guests. "Quiet down now, would ya?" Remi whispered with her hands rubbing her stomach. As she entered the dinning room, her eyes landed on a handsome young vampire named Dante Williams. Dante's POV I sipped from the wine glass that contained fresh blood of the finest quality, while patiently waiting for the birthday girl. I licked my lips in order to not miss a single drop of the sweet savory blood, and in that moment my beautiful girl walked in with her green doe like eyes immediately landing on mine rendering me speechless. I always found her beauty quite exquisite, though she was a mere human. Flash back... My first time meeting her was when she was around 8 years old. I was 18 and a new member of the clan back then. At that time she was mute and malnourished appearing to be younger like 5 or 6. Her frail body had bones that jolted out and looked like they would break through her thin pale olive skin. Our Clan Leader had brought her home deciding he would raise her as his own child, which caused some tension with the vampire council. My first task that I was ever assigned in the clan was to educate her and ensure her safety at all times. At first, I felt appalled by this task. I had thought it was a waste of my time and energy to be baby sitting a human child when I could be more productive and doing something that I deemed useful to the clan. However, each passing day I began to crave spending the time with her. She learned exceptionally fast, and the moment I taught her to read she always kept her head in book. I was impressed with how quickly she picked up on speech, literature, mathematics, and science. In four years I had ran out of things to teach her, and I found myself being taught by her. Over the years she slowly blossomed into gorgeous and delicate flower with an intricate mind, and I knew there was some connection between us that I couldn’t explain. Back to the present... I quickly stood to my feet and pulled out the chair beside mine, then gestured for her to take a seat. She gave me a shy smile and sat down while placing a napkin on her lap. "Happy birthday, my dear. I have not seen you for quite some time. I have missed your company." I whisper towards her, while her father was distracted in conversations at the head of the table with the other vampires in the clan. I always attempted to keep my feelings hidden from him, while slowly trying to woe her. I was almost certain that he would drive a stake through my heart if he knew I loved his little girl. "Thank you kindly. Without you around, it has been quite peaceful." She teased with a sarcastic smirk and mischief in her eyes. "Ouch, you aim to wound, if not even kill me." I exaggerated and jokingly clutched my chest for a dramatic effect. She rolled her eyes and before I was about to speak a voice rang out capturing the attention of everyone at the table. "I have an announcement to make, so please be quiet. As you know, my daughter has been without name since I found her and brought her back. On her 18th birthday I had finally found a name that suits her. From this day forward she will be known as Remi." Our leader exclaimed. I look to where he stood at the head of the table, his adoring eyes on his princess. "Remi..." I tested her name out on my tongue. Her head snapped in my direction and a bright pearly white smile shown on her face making my heart flutter. Those at the table clapped and showed their support towards her in respect to our leader. As the clapping died down, I noticed Arlissa, who sat across from us, tense up in anger. Disgust and hatred emanated from her face as she looked at my oblivious Remi. The wine glass with blood she was holding burst and peices shattered everywhere. Due to my fast reflexes I was able to shield Remi from the glass shrapnel. I noticed some blood from the glass had splattered on her face, and some on her plump pink lips. I might have been seeing things, because I could have sworn that she licked her lips clean and her eyes, for the briefest of moment, flickered between colors. I blinked to make sure I was seeing things clearly, but her eyes remained the enchanting forest green they always are. "Arlissa, explain yourself at once!" Remi's father seethed. If looks could kill, Arlissa would already be dead. "This celebration is ridiculous. All of this for a worthless human. You are better than this, Demetrius. I know you suffered after your tragedy, but taking on a charity case and keeping this human pet brings shame to our kind." Arlissa screamed with malice pouring thickly onto each word. Before anyone else could react, my little Remi was holding Arlissa by her neck with her nails digging into her skin causing blood to slowly drip down. We all were in shock trying to process how a human could move that fast and exert such strength. "Remi, let her go. I think she learned her lesson my daughter." Our Clan Leader spoke in an encouraging tone. "Yes, Father. However, I want to set an example of her for any of those who wish to disrespect me." Remi replied in a soft voice that was as sweet as honey. Seconds after speaking, Arlissa was flung against the wall as if she weighed next to nothing and the loud crack of multiple bones breaking echoed throughout the dinning room. Not a sound came out of anyone at the table, not until Remi turned around and we saw her unrecognizable eyes making everyone but the clan leader gasp.
