Her name is Erica Martins. She's twenty years old, a military officer working with the MIA, short for Military Intelligence Agency. It wasn't a job she enjoyed doing. Her dream job was to become a dancer, but after tragedy struck her five years ago, she changed her mind.
Five years ago, she wasn't the same girl she was now. She was a cheerful, sweet girl who held her dreams and loved ones in high esteem.
Everything changed when a beast threatened humanity's existence. When she and everyone else were scared, a hero came out and defeated the beast. The hero was her boyfriend. In his victory, he had lost his life in exchange.
She had been so heartbroken, but Tony had stood by her, comforted her, and made her see reasons to live again. He was her boyfriend now, and together they had promised to fight against any supernatural being they ever came across.
Luckily, after the MIA saw what the late Beast of Armageddon was capable of, they granted Erica and Tony, along with some other interested military officers, the authority to eliminate supernaturals, those who threatened human safety.
"Hi, love." Someone called her and pecked her forehead.
She turned and smiled. It was her boyfriend, Tony. "I'm sorry, I was just thinking about the event that happened five years ago."
Tony nodded and wrapped his hands around her shoulders. "I'm sorry those few years were very tragic for you," he apologized.
She touched his hands around her shoulders and smiled. "I have you now, Mr. Hunter. Nothing else matters," she replied, making him smile.
"Take it or not, you're a hunter now," he replied.
Erica shook her head, laughing uncontrollably. "I work with the MIA. I'm a military officer now."
"Yeah, a military officer whose only job is to hunt supernaturals. You're a military hunter," he chuckled.
"Military hunter isn't that bad, though," she said, surrendering.
"Alright, love. I've got one tough case here, a vampire case," Tony said.
"It's been a year since we last hunted vampires. I think I'll take this case," Erica replied, interested.
"Actually, we don't know who the vampire is in Canaan Town, so we are going undercover until the vampire is exposed and eliminated," Tony said.
"This would be an interesting case. When are we leaving Valley for Canaan Town?" Erica asked.
"Here is the case file on the vampire in Canaan Town. Make sure to read every bit of information. We are leaving tomorrow," Tony replied and kissed her passionately before leaving.
She was alone now. She opened the files and glanced through them, noting everything that would lead them to successfully expose the unknown vampire.
Five years ago, Canaan Town was empty, with not a single soul living there. The reason was simple: the Beast of Armageddon had attacked and killed the inhabitants of Canaan Town. The rest of the people ran away to neighboring towns which the beast had not invaded yet.
But after the beast's death, the escapees migrated back to their town, and some strangers joined them too. Canaan, a once-deserted town, was now filled with people and had once again become a lively town.
But with the vampire's presence in the lively town, Canaan faced another threat of becoming extinct. And even an ignorant person would know that if the town became aware that a supernatural being was the true cause of the deaths of Canaan's people instead of the false animal attack they believed in, people would again migrate from the town, and this time, she was certain they wouldn't come back.
Any supernatural who posed such a threat to humanity deserved to be destroyed.
Only then did she realize the vampire's days were numbered.
She put the file down and smiled with determination, realizing she would do anything to ensure that one more supernatural was taken down.
Someone opened his eyes and looked around his surroundings. He was in a cave.
"You're awake, Derek," a man said while entering the cave.
Derek turned to see whoever had called his name and gasped. "Where is Erica? Where am I?" he asked, confused.
The man smiled. "Don't you remember anything?"
Derek closed his eyes, trying to remember. "I do remember hugging Erica for the last time before going to fight the Beast of Armageddon. I succeeded in defeating the beast, but..."
Derek turned to look at the man with astonishment. "I must be in the afterlife," he whispered.
The man laughed at Derek, obviously enjoying the scene. "Sorry to disappoint you, Derek boy. You're still on Earth. You're alive."
Derek shook his head violently. "It can't be. I knew I was dead. How did I survive?" he asked.
"Because you're no longer human. Seriously? Didn't Tony tell you everything?" the man asked.
Derek looked at him with confusion, arching his brow. What the hell was the strange man talking about?
"Oops, my bad. You didn't know that whoever kills the Beast of Armageddon and dies becomes the next Beast of Armageddon after his resurrection. I'll take it you weren't aware," the man replied.
Derek became frightened and surprised. "Am I the Beast of Armageddon?" he asked, panicking.
The man laughed, enjoying Derek's dismay. "You are the Beast of Armageddon. It's a pity Tony knew about this but didn't tell you. Why do you think someone who loves all the glory allowed you to fight this beast by yourself?" He laughed even more cruelly.
And then Derek knew. Tony had known all along. That's why he had tricked him into destroying this beast. That's why he had agreed to be the bait instead of the warrior.
