VLAD
“No, no, no… please don’t do this. Please don’t do this.”
The human female’s voice hit my ears in a pure desperation. But I could barely process her words. My mind was unraveling. The scent coming off her was devastating. She was aroused, the female was aroused and it’s driving me mad.
“Let me out of here!” she screamed, her small fists hammering uselessly against the exit.
I snapped violently at the iron cuffs around my wrists, the links clanking against the brick as I waited for the final release. Every muscle in my body was coiled tightly, a loaded spring ready to snap.
With a loud hiss, the automated wall locks finally disengaged. The chains clattered to the concrete floor, completely slack.
The female stilled instantly at the sound. She backed away until her spine was pressed hard against the iron door, her eyes wide with terror as she tracked my freedom.
I moved forward, my steps slow, closing the distance between us. A small, desperate part of my humanity fought fiercely against the darkness overtaking my mind.
She is a human, This is a trap. This is not why you are here. But the beast in me was entirely on edge. A completely vulnerable, trembling female stood right in front of me, and the thick scent clouding the room obliterated my restraint.
With a low roar, I leapt across the gap, my massive frame colliding with her.
A sharp scream of pure terror tore from her throat as we went down. “Let go of me! Get off!” she shrieked, her tiny hands pushing against my chest, but I was entirely useless.
I needed to mate. The burning pressure in my blood was overwhelming, driving me to the brink of insanity. This was what my body demanded. This was what the scientists had engineered.
Sensing the shift in my posture, she suddenly twisted under me, breaking my grip for a split second as she tried to bolt toward the opposite corner of the room. I reached out instinctively, my thick fingers wrapping tightly around her ankle. Her foot slipped out from under her, and she stumbled hard back to the floor, the oversized gown bunching around her hips.
I immediately towered over her, pinning her escape routes. My hand came up to rest against her jaw, my thumb pressing into the soft skin of her cheek.
“Please,” she muttered, her lips brushing against my palm as she trembled, looking up at me. “Don’t hurt me. You don’t want this. You didn’t want this.”
Her chest rose and fell in gasps. “They injected me,” she rushed out, her voice cracking as she tried to reach whatever was left of my sanity. “They did something to me so you would be aroused by me. It’s not real. Please.”
But Vlad wasn’t Vlad right now.
My gaze drifted down to her exposed thighs, the smooth skin pale against the dark concrete. I placed my hand there, the rough texture of my palm tracing upward, sliding the hem of her short gown further up her legs.
“No!” she screamed, her hands coming down to desperately claw at my wrist.
A sudden spike of confusion hit my brain. My wolf was demanding compliance, but the microscopic thread of my own mind was screaming at me to stop. I shifted my hand upward under her shirt, my palm flattening against her bare chest.
Her breath hitched sharply. The sudden rhythm of her heart pulsing under my fingertips drove me even further to the edge.
“Please,” she whispered again, her eyes closing tightly as she stopped fighting, her body going completely limp under mine. “Please don’t do this.”
“Do it! Come on, beast, take her!”
Evans’ voice suddenly exploded through the intercom speaker, booming from the camera.
I stilled instantly.
The arrogant tone of the scientist pierced through the fog in my brain. No. This was not it. This was entirely wrong.
This was exactly what they wanted—a twisted experiment to turn me into a breeding animal for their amusement. This was not why I had allowed myself to be captured. I was here to save my son, not to become a puppet for human entertainment.
“Come on, take her,” Evans’ voice continued, dripping with disgusting anticipation. “She’s all yours.”
A vicious sneer curled my upper lip, my fangs extending fully as my gaze snapped away from the girl and locked directly onto the blinking red light of the lens.
I stood up, abandoning the female on the floor, and lunged across the enclosure in one powerful bounds. I launched my weight into the air, my claws ripping into the plastic and metal casing of the security system, tearing the camera completely out of the drywall. Wire snapped, sparks flying against my skin as the screen went dead.
The sharp, irritating buzz of an emergency alarm immediately began to blare through the facility, a red warning light pulsing overhead.
“Stupid humans,” I snorted, tossing the mangled pieces of the camera to the floor.
I turned back around. The female had scrambled to her feet, hiding herself away in the deepest corner of the room, her hands clutching the torn fabric of her gown around her chest. The scent coming off her still clouded my senses, making my jaw tight, but the fury in my veins had firmly overtaken the lust.
I walked over to her corner and yanked her forward by the arm until she was standing directly in front of me.
“What’s your name, female?” I demanded, my voice a low.
“Sarah… Sarah,” she stammered, her lower lip trembling violently as she stared up at my chest.
“Sarah,” I tested the name on my tongue. My eyes raked over her body one last time. I closed my eyes tightly, forcing the wolf back, locking away the desire. I was an Alpha. I had never gone after a human female in my life, and it was entirely clear that these bastards were using her as a weapon against my instincts.
I opened my eyes, locking them onto hers, “Listen to me, female. When those humans come through that door, you run. You run while I take care of them.”
She blinked, her breath catching as I leaned closer. “You go straight to Evans’ office down the main hall. There is a shelf where he keeps his medical supplies and chemical compounds. There is a green antidote there. You are to grab it and go hide up in the ventilation shafts in the roof. Do you understand me? I will come for you when I am finished here. If you do not do exactly as I say, I will hunt you down, and I will find you.”
Sarah nodded frantically, her hair flying around her face as she gripped her gown tighter. “Okay. Okay, I’ll do it.”
“Stay behind that corner,” I growled, shoving her gently back into the recess of the wall. “They will be here in a minute.”
A low growl vibrated in my chest as my eyes began to shift color. My body was still fighting the lingering heat of the drug, but the anticipation of a real fight was the perfect distraction.
I turned to the wall, grabbing one of the thick iron chains that had been anchored into the concrete, I pulled with a sudden, massive surge of strength, ripping the links completely free from the stone. I wrapped the metal securely around my forearm, creating a makeshift weapon, and stood at my full, terrifying height in the center of the room.
One of us was going to die in this room today, and it certainly wasn’t going to be me.
The electronic bolts on the entry door suddenly fired, and the steel frame burst open with a loud bang.
“Stay put, else you’ll be electrocuted!” one of the lead guards shouted, stepping over the threshold with a stun baton raised and humming with blue electricity.
I bared my teeth, the wolf completely taking the reins as I stepped forward to meet him. “I’ll end you all today,” I growled.
